Wedding Dessert: Cake, Cupcakes, Or Both?

The Bride, on June 30, 2019 at 1:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 68

Wedding cake is timeless, traditional, and will never go out of style. Cupcakes are fun, unique, and easily accessible without the hassle of having to cut them. Then there is the "best of both worlds"; a 1-tier cake that you can take cute cake cutting pictures with and cupcakes that you can conveniently pass out to your guests.

What are your thoughts on wedding dessert? Will your wedding have a cake, cupcakes, or both?

I had a cake with a dessert room that included signature chocolates, Chocolate Mousse, Mini Cheesecakes, Tiramisu, Cannolis, Bread Pudding, Brownies, an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Sundae Bar, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.

We're doing both, the very top small layer will be cake for us and everything else will be cupcakes.

I had a 3 tiered cake with different flavors to keep things simple but I love the idea of the 1 tier cake and cupcakes.

We’re only planning to have a small cake that my MOH and I will make. My FH doesn’t like cake, so we’ll probably do a selection of cookies too, and since we’re planning to get married at a campground we’ll likely do s’mores too.

I also had a 3-tier cake. The top layer was vanilla, the middle layer chocolate, and the bottom layer chocolate chip. We considered cupcakes until we fell in love with a design similar to our wedding cake.

I had never heard of chocolate chips in a cake until I went to my cake tasting. One of the layers in my cake was chocolate chip and my guests loved it.

I love the idea of making your own wedding cake. We also had S'mores at our wedding but as favors. We also had a S'mores signature drink due to our winter rustic theme. You should consider it based on your location.

We are doing a 12 inch round fondant cake with our topper and 2 tiers of cupcakes beneath. We will cut the big cake and serve the cupcakes.

Yum, those look really good! I thought about s’mores as favors, but it makes more sense to just serve them based on our location. I’m hoping we won’t have fire bans next summer so we can light campfires 🤞🏻.
