Wedding Day Emergency Kit

Kimi, on November 8, 2015 at 3:22 PM Posted in Planning 3 27

This is a compilation of several articles and lists for Wedding Day Emergency Kits that I have pinned on Pinterest. Since I was making myself a list, thought I would share with you all.

1. Mini sewing kit with scissors, needles, thread, buttons, and safety pins: For those “make it work” moments.

2. Tweezers: From stray hairs to splinters, you never know when you’ll need these nimble helpers.

3. Baby powder: Hot summer days, crowded prep rooms, and nerves can all lead to sweat. A little moisture-absorbing baby powder will help the bride feel fresh as a daisy. It’s also great for keeping beaded bodices from scratching or chafing the bride’s underarms.

4. Extra undergarments and spare pantyhose if wearing: For when baby powder just doesn’t cut it. (See above.)

5. Q-tips & makeup remover: Eyeliner mistakes happen. But they don’t have to stick around.

6. Blotting papers: For absorbing shine and oil, not your fancy makeup.

    7. Tampons/panty liners: Even if you don’t need one, someone else will.

    8. Blister Treatment: Prevent blisters so you all can dance the night away.

    9. Nail polish (one clear top coat; one in the shade you’re wearing), nail file, and nail clippers: Polish chips and stocking runs don’t stand a chance.

    10. Tissues: For those happy tears (and any accidental eye pokes with mascara wands).

    11. Mini first aid kit with Band-Aids, burn relief, liquid bandages, and antiseptic: Safety first! Include alcohol swabs (to sniff) in case someone feels nauseous or faint. It works better than ammonia capsules.

    12. Medicine (pain reliever, allergy medicine, antacid): Take precautions for the big three issues that can attack at any moment—especially under stress: headaches, allergies, and indigestion.

    13. Sunscreen: Even if the wedding is indoors, if the wedding party will be outside for photos, make sure to have this on hand. (Depending on your climate, add bug spray for the same reason. Unscented for both!)

    14. Towelettes and hand sanitizer: For freshening up on the go.

    15. Deodorant: Chances are, someone probably forgot to use it this morning or may need to reapply.

    16. Razor: See above.

    17. Granola bars or other easy-to-carry snacks: Nobody wants a hangry bride on their hands!

    18. Straws & bottled water: So the bride can stay hydrated without messing up her lipstick. Caffeine if any drinks it (I personally don’t).

    19. Super Glue: For fixing shoes, nails, jewelry, head pieces, and more.

    20. Pen and paper: For last minute reminders, thank you notes, and secret messages between the bride and groom.

    21. Breath mints: Hand her one right before she walks down the aisle, so the first kiss is minty fresh.

    22. Stain remover pen: For spills and would-be stains on the dresses. (God forbid!)

    23. White chalk: If something gets on the wedding dress and it just won’t come out, you can usually mask the stain with chalk. No one will be any the wiser.

    24. Lighter: For sealing the edge of frayed ribbons.

    25. White duct tape: It’s true what they say—it can fix anything! Grab a roll of the white variety just in case that “thing” is worn by the bride. (Stick-on hemming tape is also a good nice-to-have.)

    26. Lint roller: Especially helpful for the groom and groomsmen’s suits.

    27. Cash: Just in case! Include some change in case the bride suddenly decides the only thing she needs is a soda from that machine down the hall.

    28. Dental floss/toothpicks: Just in case those snacks in the bridal suite try to overstay their welcome.

    29. Eye drops: Don’t let red eyes ruin your beauty prep! (Side note: if the bride wears contacts, make sure she brings an extra pair, contact solution, and a case.)

    30. Extension cord and phone charger(s): The bride is stuck in the makeup chair, her phone’s about to die, but she needs to call the caterer. Suddenly, you’re a lifesaver.

    31. Lotion: For taming dry patches and flyaways.

    32. Toothbrush and toothpaste: It’s not uncommon for a bride to be so excited when she wakes up that she forgets to brush her teeth.

    33. Extra earring backs: You never know when those little guys will go missing.

    34. Hair elastics and bobby pins/hair pins: You can never have too many. (Add hairspray and a comb/brush & mirror while you’re at it.)

    35. Alcohol: When all else fails, a little liquid courage is the ultimate backup. Have a couple airplane bottles of the bride’s favorite spirit handy… just in case.

    36. Lip Balm/Chapstick: softening lips prior to lipstick application

    37. Safety pins: for fixing a multitude of mishaps – my cousin’s bustle broke and no one had prepared for that possibility

    38. Corsage pins & floral tape: you never know when flowers will need to be rewrapped & in case pins bend

    39. Black shoe polish: or whatever color the groom/groomsmen are wearing

All those are covered. I should have alphabetized, so things were easier to find.

I didn't use anything! I went into the lady's room once to look at my hair and freshen my lipstick. Didn't even use the restroom!

That's a pretty large list. I can't imagine bringing all of that to the reception site. The only thing I'm bringing is a small sewing kit and a couple of safety pins.

I would add moleskine and scissors, or pre-cut moleskine strips, in case your shoes start hurting (I used mine), fake eyelash glue in case they come off (mine did), nail files (one of my nails chipped a bit), a crochet hook to easily do the bustle. I used all of this plus several items in your list. I had a bridal room at the venue so we left it there, but we were originally going to leave it in somebody's trunk. I put it all in a big zippered tote bag and actually carried it myself for a bit. It looks like a lot of items but almost all are tiny Smiley smile

Fashion tape or double-sided tape to help secure stubborn dresses that aren't laying right. Clear nail polish to stop runs in nylons (if anyone is wearing them). So many great items on the list already!

I will be staying in a room at our venue (a hotel) the night before and getting ready in the room. This is a list of stuff to have "just in case". I don't intend to have this with me at the ceremony or reception (since someone can run up to the room if something is needed). VC, I sooo forgot the crochet hook for my bustle!

Just thought of something else: eyeglass repair kit (multiple family members wear glasses). I would rather have all of this gathered and not use any of it, than need something and think, "Well I thought about having a kit, but didn't put it together". I'm pack like that on vacations, too!

    I bought this

    http://www.sephora.com/bridetastic-deluxe-wedding-emergency-kit-P386501

It actually contains *most* of the stuff on your list. At first I thought it seemed pricey, but when you consider how many individual things you have to buy it was totally worth it. Plus you get the Sephora freebies Smiley smile

I actually ended up using several items out of it (bobby pins, comb, double sided tape, tampon, scissors, and a few other things) and was super happy I got it. I also got my groom the mini kit ($15) and he used his as well.

BatlettToBe, I looked at those and wondered if I could make it myself cheaper. I'll have to investigate further.

Here's a less extensive version of the mini bride emergency kit for $16...I definitely wouldn't need most of what comes in the big one, like the emergency vows or anything.

I'd probably just supplement this with tweezers and blister protection.

My emergency kit had tums, shout wipes, chocolate, lip balm, band aids, mints, and a nail file. I never even used the kit lol. I went to the bridal room a few times to redo lipstick. I never even went to use the restroom
