Wedding cake flavor

Ann, on August 30, 2019 at 11:34 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 47
I’m getting married in November right before thanksgiving. Haven’t decided on what flavor of cake to go with. What kind of cake flavors are you going with for your cake?
My cake baker has asked me to tell her what cake flavors we would like to taste on Monday. I was thinking Vanilla with raspberry, cookies and cream at least to try. But looking for other ideas.

My reception dress is rose gold so would match our theme to that.

NotFroofy made our cake. The bottom layer was dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla butter cream icing. The second was lemon cake with raspberry mousse filling and lemon butter cream icing. The third was sour cream spice cake with pecans and sour cream frosting. The top layer was the traditional British fruit cake with marzipan and royal icing, which we saved for our anniversary.

Our main cake is vanilla with vanilla filling, white chocolate with chocolate filling, and pink champagne with salted caramel filling. The grooms cake is chocolate with ganache and cookies and cream with crushed Oreos on top. I don’t like fruity flavors and I tried pumpkin and almond flavors but they just weren’t for me.

Nice! So are you having those 3 different flavors for each layer in your main cake? I didn’t even think of having different flavors for each layer! Oh and we aren’t doing a groom’s cake. One cake is sufficient for us lol.

We had chocolate cake. Not super traditional but tasted amazing and everyone loved it. You could see if the baker can do a rose flavor. It would be so delicate and elegant.

Ah yes! I love that idea of asking the baker to see if she can do a rose flavor. My fiancé loves chocolate cake too! Ahh so many good choices and hard to choose

Wow yumm! Love the flavor combos! Did you pick these yourself or the baker provided these options for you?

My FH and I decided on banana with a custard filling, pink champagne with strawberry filling, and red velvet with cream cheese. I was shocked with how much I enjoyed the banana cake!

We are having a 4 tier cake, my aunt is actually making it she used to make them with her mom a long time ago. The bottom layer is carrot cake (my favorite) and the white cake for the plain people. Then red velvet then carrot again. They did a test run and it was sooooo good.

Wow sounds delish! Can I ask how did you guys pick these flavors? Did the baker present these options to you or you picked yourselves?

We picked from a list of everything they offered. We were able to pick 6 flavors. We decided to not try the typical vanilla and chocolate because we know those flavors can’t differ much from baker to baker. We also tried strawberry, pound cake, spice cake, and they gave us confetti as an added bonus.

A spice or pumpkin with cream cheese would be a fun seasonal combo for your Nov wedding. Then a chocolate with espresso or hazelnut could also be yummy as another tier.

I’m not a huge fan of a spice or pumpkin cake to be honest. But I love the chocolate and hazelnut idea!! Will keep that in my list

Yes it’ll be 3 tiers and each tier will be different. The grooms cake will be 2 tiers. I agree one cake is enough but my fiancé wanted his cake lol

Well definitely choose flavors you enjoy. 😊 Carrot cake with cream cheese? That’s a fall flavor combo too.

The two flavors you have sound good! I have a three tier cake and each tier has a different flavor. They’re, red velvet, banana pudding, & lemon.

We’re having a “pb&j” cake! Peanut butter frosting and raspberry jam for the filling. Banana cake (it’s not as gross as it sounds, the banana is more like banana bread!). We got sheet cake in both our flavor and a boring vanilla and raspberry for those who aren’t adventurous.

We are having 6 different flavors: chocolate, strawberry, Italian cream, carrot cake (since it’s a fall wedding), lemon raspberry, and vanilla.
