Ok ladies has anyone saved their wedding cake for their first anniversary, or are planning to? My mother has, and she said that cake was still pretty good, but on the other side I've had people tell me horror stories about how awful the cake tasted. My mother has, and she said that cake was still pretty good, but on the other side I've had people tell me horror stories about how awful the cake tasted. I'm just wondering if people still do this, and if any of you ladies want to share your experiences?

We are not doing that. I've heard so many horror stories about it.

Our bakers told us not to. They make us a cake on our anniversary as their gift to us!

We are not saving ours. Our baker said she could do us a layer from the same batter if that was important to us. It wouldn't be decorated like our wedding cake, but would freeze better. We told her we would rather just have a fresh anniversary cake.

Practically, I don't have the first clue about how to wrap an entire cake layer so that it would taste edible a year later. Planning on going to replica route. FH doesn't eat cake anyway.

Nope. Our bakery makes you a new top layer for your one year anniversary so we will be serving ours.

We didn't even consider it. Seems like a waste of perfectly good fresh cake. We had a ton of leftover cake though - so much that while we were on our honeymoon, we had one of our coworkers bring the leftovers into our workplace.

I really wish our baker did the anniversary cake thing because it was so tasty. Smiley sad
