wearing same color as the mother of groom

D, on July 7, 2016 at 7:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 114

After a 20 year best friend relationship and treating the bride as a daughter even paying for all the flowers for the entire wedding and other floral events for the wedding. I set the flowers down and even before the bride had seen the flowers i was asked to leave because I was wearing the same COLOR of dress as the grooms mother! I have not ever heard of such a thing as wearing the same color. Has ANYONE ELSE. Please help me I am about to toss out a very long time friendship.

I have never heard that it is a faux pas to wear the same color as the mother of the groom

I would have been tossed out of a couple of weddings by now. Who told you to leave?

Am I understanding this correctly? You were kicked out of a wedding because wore the same color as MOG? If that's the case, I'd be tossing out that friendship, because that's insanely disrespectful to you!

I can only assume that it was someone other than the bride who asked you to leave. That is ridiculous. Was the bride aware that this took place?

Wait, I am confused. Who asked you to leave? Who are you friends with, the bride, MOG, or the MOB? I genuinely trying to understand what happened, but there are many missing pieces?

Yes the bride was aware and so was her mother my best frend of 20+ years. I hate that i was not important enough to them. We have vacationed together, spent most holidays and birthdays together. It was a 15 min service and it was done. There was a 3 hr gap before the reception started which I DID GO AHEAD AND DROP OFF THE flowers for the venue to be decorated with. I am just so hurt. BUT I would never do that to a friend.

The MOB and I are best friends our husbands are best friends. Their daughter is like a daughter to me. We are very close but I do not see how I could be treated that way after a friendship this close of 20 years

NO CHELSIE...the MOB does still want to be friends. I just can not forgive this. No one said Guest could not wear certain colors. I have never heard it WAS in poor taste to match the MOG ever. However, I did feel bad we were in the same color.

Have you talked to your friend since? Maybe there is an underlying reason. Not one I can think of but still...

Did the mog take out a billboard and let everyone know that they couldn't wear that color? How the hell can someone demand that no one wears the same color? Hell, even tacky as hell people wear white to weddings.

This is either fake or the most ridiculous thing I've heard since tionnei.

NO SARAH they keep calling but i don't answer. What could they possible say or do that could take any part and make it better.

Yeah I have to call troll on this one. I know ridiculous things happen at weddings, but this takes the cake. Unless you were specifically told not to wear a certain color, I doubt people would be upset.

Maybe it's Thomas, the use of random capitalization is there...

No Bethany, my pain is real. I just don't know, if I really want to have a friendship after this.
