Virginia Wedding July 18th 2020

Ashley, on April 20, 2020 at 5:12 PM Posted in Virginia Planning 2 9

Y'all... Virginia's stay at home order is till June 10th and their cases are still increasing. My wedding is July 18th 2020.

My caterer thinks we should postpone. My venue thinks we shouldn't. My photographer was honest with her answer of IDK.

We have 100 guests and half of them are from out of town(MY HALF specifically). The governor is extreme and I think he will outlaw gatherings of more than 50 once he starts to reopen stuff.

I am NOT willing to cut my guest list down. IDK when is too early to postpone. I'm just holding onto my wedding invitations, desperate for an answer. My fiance and I are separated and our wedding is in a different state than either of us.

Please help.

Well that depends. According the the WH guidelines, there are different phases that each state need to adapt to in order to reopen. Do you think you will be able to get to Phase 3 between now and your wedding? Phase 3 allows gatherings of more than 50. I think you need to work on a back up plan, so you won't have to cut your guest list.

Hey, I’m in northern VA and getting married in September. I think I would hold off on postponing for now. Wait until late May / early June and see what’s happening. There’s a possibility we could reach Phase 3 by July. Did your venue gift the option of putting a soft hold on another date?

    Hi Ashley,

It's very proactive to start thinking about your options now! Based on the discussions I'm seeing, couples are doing MANY different things when it comes to Plan B. Here are some links to ongoing conversations:

Hello! Thank You. We finished the invitations last night to send today. We put an insert that we were monitoring the situation closely and put an RSVP date of May 22nd. We said we would let everyone know for sure June 1st so they could book travel.

Wonderful! Sounds like things are moving forward. Have you decided if they don't allow gatherings over 50 what you will be doing?

Virginia bride, too. My date was May 24. We decided to have an intimate wedding with family only (tentatively and hopefully for June 13) since all of our guests are out of towners. We're having our huge reception in January. If I were you, I would let everyone know you're monitoring it, and decide closer to June 10. We really wont know if he's going to extend the orrder until then.

Thank You. Yes, we decided to make a final decision sometime after our RSVP date before June 1st. We said we would let them know a final announcement on June 1st.

I am also getting married July 18 in Virginia and it appears that through the summer social gatherings will have to be kept under 50 people. Phase 3 may take 10 weeks after phase 2
