Venue Tours - What Do We Wear?

OnTheWayToMrsA, on September 2, 2016 at 11:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

I'm not sure if this is a silly question, but my search turned up some mixed opinions on what we should wear to a venue tour; some sites said casual/comfortable, others said dress as though you're going to work, and another that you should dress to reflect the type of wedding you'd like to have (we're hoping for a beach ceremony with an indoor reception). We have to run a bunch of errands prior to the appointment, I'm just not sure if we should bother to bring a change of clothes. What do you all think?

I have never, ever heard of this being a thing. I wore jeans and I'm having a formal ass wedding.

I've never heard of dressing up for a venue tour. I'm sure whatever you'd normally wear to run errands would be fine.

I dressed "nicer than usual". I wore a dress one day, and jeans and a nice shirt the next. Just look presentable and you'll be fine.

Haha I wore my 'everyday' clothing. Don't overthink it!

Uh I've never heard of dressing up, but I looked decent--like my everyday clothes. I think I wore a sundress to one and nice pants and a blouse to the other.

I wore sundresses. Some places have dress codes - like one country club we considered had a "no jeans" policy and required long pants for gentleman. As long as you're not looking somewhere that is specific about their dress code - you can wear whatever you would like. As long as your money is green *if you're American* and your checks cash - they likely won't care what you wear.

You should probably wear bathing suits, obvious sunscreen on your nose, and an inner tube around your waste to make sure your beach theme comes across.

But seriously, kidding aside, just get dressed.

Yeah I never put thought into my outfits. I usually scheduled a venue tour on days I had other things to do or after work, so I think I inadvertently dressed up but seriously they don't care.

We did slacks and sweaters for me, dark jeans and button-down for him - comfy dressy-casual.

I would say that if you're getting a venue tour during someone else's setup? Dress neatly. I hate that venues even do this, but it's glaringly obvious that they have other clients touring when the family is taking pix and here come two people in sweatpants......

I don't even think venues should DO this, but they do.
