Veil or No Veil?

Are you going to wear a veil on your wedding day? If so, what style and length? Are you keeping it simple with a plain tulle veil? Wearing a blusher?? Did you fall in love with a veil with lace edging? Photo by Amelia Renee Photography in Des Moines, IA

No veil for me. But, doing my hair in a half updo with a pretty comb with bling.

Although my mother insists that I should wear a veil for tradition sake, I have decided not to. Since the wedding is 1920s themed, I am going with a jeweled headband instead

Mother of the Bride jumping on in to agree 100 % with you Paige. Daughter was against a veil until she started wedding dress shopping. I said nothing and let her make up her own mind and a chapel length plain veil held in by a comb it is ! (Lace Pronovia gown) Totally took the look from pretty white ball dress to bride - BAM ! and completed the look.

32 years ago I forgoe a veil for flowers in an updo and wore a tea length 1920s hankerchief to die for lace gown. That worked for me (garden ceremony). Its an individual choice that has to work for the bride and their vision

I was dead set on not wearing a veil until I tried on my dress and my Mom suggested to try on a veil. Im glad I did because the veil completed the look. The one I bought goes down to my.lower back.

No wedding veil so everyone can see my hair. Beach waves and fishtail braids.

My wedding dress is super simple and I’m having a Courthouse wedding so I’m still contemplating on wearing one. Amazon has amazing veils for under $20!

Veil, just for the back of the head design not over the face tradition. Its a cathedral lace edge that matches my dress. Came free too with my dress for a promo they had that month!

No veil for me! I love the idea of putting babys-breath in my hair. I saw another girl do it and it looked adorable! I'm getting married on a farm though so I guess it's more fitting!!

I am going to be wearing my mom’s fingertip length with lace trim, Juliet cap veil. I’m super excited because I just tried on dresses on Saturday and put it in with the dress I fell it love with.

Cathedral veil for me. My dress is kind of blah at the bottom, so I bought a design that completes the look. Depending on which way the wind blows during our ceremony, DF and I agreed to switch sides if needed. Fingers crossed for a calm day!

Not only am I wearing one, I actually bought my wedding dress to match my veil. So, a funny thing happened on the way to a musical. When I was younger, there wasn't much I envisioned for my wedding, except I have always dreamed of a Mantilla veil (Spanish fingertip). In 2015 I was doing costumes for "Shrek the Musical", and of course, Fiona needed a veil. Our studio had just gotten a huge donation of pieces from a seamstress who specialized in formal wear. In sifting through everything, I found the perfect veil for Fiona...and me. It was a mantilla with heavy beading all around, and a comb attachment. Only problem was that at the time, I had been single for 5 years, with no prospects. I asked the owner if I could have the veil after the show closed, and she said since she couldn't pay me enough for costuming about 70 pieces, of course! So I kept it, just in cases. Fast forward to this year...While trying on the dress I would end up buying, the bridal assistant said it looked like the veil was made for the dress! They are the exact same shade of ivory and have very similar scalloped edges. I'm so excited that the only thing I planned before meeting my FH will indeed be a part of our special day.

I am very excited to say that I'm wearing a veil despite the fact that my hair is really short! I actually ended up getting highlights because my veil wouldn't stay in... the highlights actually help a lot. I can't wait to see it all put together!
