Veil or no veil... and if you choose a veil - will you wear it over your face when you walk down the isle?

Tanyia, on May 31, 2019 at 11:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

As a future bride, I'm doing my research!

I see pics of brides primarily -- in a veil, and are "un-veiled" - even when walking down the isle. More modern brides aren't even wearing veils these days.

1) Are you going to wear veil? If so, will it cover your face walking down the isle?

2) If you wear a veil but will not cover your face while walking down the isle - why not?

3) If you are choosing not to wear a veil - what is the reason?

I'm undecided, honestly - but I like to hear what is trending.

I didn't want a veil originally; but once I seen it on at the bridal store, it just seemed to complete the whole look.
I bought a simple, fingertip veil along with my dress that I love. I bought another veil, cathedral length this time, mainly for picture purposes. I plan to wear both at different points of the day.
Neither will cover my face. I just don't think that's necessary for myself.

I will definitely be wearing the veil, as it just makes me feel more "bridal" and ties the whole look together! The one I ended up ordering does have a blusher (where it can cover your face) but I won't be using it. I mainly got it so that it has the two tier look! I don't think it is necessary

My Veil! It will be a bit longer though, fingertip length.Veil or no veil... and if you choose a veil - will you wear it over your face when you walk down the isle? 1

for my face to be covered, I just love the look!

I am wearing a fingertip length veil. It has 2 tiers, so I can wear the shorter tier as a blusher if I want. I am still undecided on that and will probably just decide day of how I'm feeling and what everyone thinks. It looks pretty both ways, so I like the versatility. I'll probably take it off for the reception though.

This is my second wedding. I'm wearing a veil, but no blusher. For my first wedding (2003), I wore a drop veil, so it did cover my face. Honestly, if this was my first wedding, I'd make the same choice. I love drop veils. I don't really care for the poofy blushers.

    1) I am wearing a veil. I was undecided at first, but this will be the only time in my life that I can wear a veil and it makes me feel more bridal.

    2) My veil will not have a blusher. I don't want it to mess my hair up nor do I want to go through the awkwardness of pulling it back when I get to the altar. I also don't like the two tiered look of the veil once the blusher has been pulled back.

I'm wearing a veil, but not over my face while walking down the aisle. I want to make sure I can take in everything as I walk!

I'm wearing a cathedral length veil without a blusher. I paid good $$ for my hair and makeup! I don't want to cover it and ruin it. Also in pictures as you walk up the aisle your face will be distorted from the fine tulle. It's just not for me.

    1) Yes I am wearing a veil. No it will not cover my face.

    2) Because I don't want it to, lol.

    3) I am wearing a veil, but am taking it off after the ceremony. I have a cathedral length veil, and there is no way I am going to wear that thing all night. I originally didn't want a veil though. Just didn't picture myself in one. BUT My mom convinced me by saying "you only get one chance in your life to wear one."

I was initially team no veil but I decided to get a royal cathedral length veil that’s narrow (72” wide) and won’t be visible directly from the front so I still feel modern in it! And definitely no blusher!

I have a cathedral length veil but will not be wearing a blusher. I think they are absolutely silly! I know the history of the blusher and it's no longer relevant, but it's just weird to me whenever I see the bride "hiding" behind a piece of fabric. Come out! We want to see you!

TL;DR... bolded parts are the answers to the questions if people don't want to read my rambling. xD

I chose an ivory 2-tier chapel length veil with horsehair trim. Smiley smile I am planning on having the 1st tier draped over my head whilst walking down the aisle, I think it's really sweet and romantic as a part of 'giving away the bride'! Also looks wise, I am going for the southern belle, vintage, romantic vibe and this is one of those touches that would really kick it up a notch in my opinion! Smiley laugh The 1st (shorter tier) falls to about my waistline.... It doesn't hide the intricate beading+details on the front of my gown, but adds a certain elegant romance that I just love... It's almost extremely light, so I seriously doubt it's going to mess with my hairstyle or makeup. I've seen plenty of people wear their veils this way without ruining their hair or makeup so I wouldn't be too worried if that's what you want to do!

I recommend going with your heart's feeling, and trying on as many veils as you can. If you love something in the salon that is too expensive, you can always look on Etsy! The creators on there are amazing, the quality is astounding and you don't have to pay an arm & a leg! (I might be biased because I got mine from Etsy, but it is sooo worth it)

Here are some pics of my veil... I don't have any of me wearing it just yet!

I am going to wear a veil but I don't want to cover up my face because of my makeup and the fresh florals I will have in my hair (plus I just don't want to mess up my hair)! I think the veil is staple wedding attire, I wouldn't want to not wear one at all.
