FH and I went to a wedding over the weekend where they only served vegan dishes and cupcakes. The bride is the only one who is vegan. We noticed that more than half of the dishes went untouched and most of the cupcakes were still around at the end of the reception. Now I did eat some of my meal but a good portion of it was just unappetizing the cupcakes on the other hand were delicious and honestly we couldn't really tell that they were vegan. Half way through the reception the bride was upset because she realized no one had really eaten and that people were leaving (most likely because they were hungry.) It was also a cash bar and the prices were a bit steep, minimal dancing/entertainment, and really no mingling. Other than that the bride looked beautiful so did the WP and the venue was absolutely gorgeous ( it is new to our area, this is the 5th wedding that they've held there.)

I eat meat with just about every meal. No meat is not the only protein (but yes we do need meat). No I don't eat any veggies. I've tried and I don't like them. I try to get that nutrients from vitamins and I'm looking for some good smoothie recipes that will mask the taste. But I will not go to an event where meat is not being served.

@Amanda nope no pasta. Vegan tacos (which was the only edible item on the dish) cauliflower "wings", broccoli rabe, and cauliflower rice, and some other items that I don't remember.

I can really see both sides of this debate. On the one hand, I believe in providing for your guests. On the other, I wouldn't necessarily expect that a host compromise his or her ethics. But I will say that if I were to serve a vegan menu, I'd try to serve foods that usually don't have meat or cheese, so guests don't necessarily miss it. I wouldn't want to serve things that non-vegans aren't used to eating, like Daiya cheese or processed meat substitutes. I think along the lines of rice and beans, some pasta dishes, black bean tacos, maybe some Indian dishes? Things that happen to be vegan, not vegan foods attempting to dupe non-vegan foods, if that makes sense.

Every time I see a post from Celia I get excited and think she's back. Then I check the date.

WW: I really miss her advice, and wish she was here as it gets closer to my wedding day.
