UPDATED Mom says I shouldn't wear white to Rehearsal Dinner

Christine, on February 27, 2015 at 9:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 50

I've been sending my Mom photos of dresses I'm considering to wear to the RD, trying to make her feel involved since I've done most of the planning stuff overseas and she's been shooting them all down. I really want to wear white with a pop of another color, some sort of pattern or detail. Finally after the latest rejection (she said the dress would make me look like a nurse, lol), she told me that I shouldn't go for white just because I'm getting married and to look at other colors.

What do you ladies think? Wear white cuz why not for a wedding event? Or take all colors into consideration? And what color will YOU be wearing?

Mine is cream with black hearts, so i say go for it! plus, with your complexion, you'll look amazing in white.

I personally have been getting white for all my occasions (maybe more ivory, goes better with my skin). I think you should wear whatever you would like, your only a bride once so enjoy it! Smiley smile

I think you should wear what makes you feel best. For me, I am not wearing white. It just feels too traditional in a way that makes me feel stuffy. I wore a coral red to my shower, and I am looking at turquoise or blue for RD.

Future mrs hall- it's funny you say that because my Mom is always encouraging me to wear more bright colors instead of neutrals like white, black and gray (which I love) for the same reason! She says they'll pop more on me. I think that's why she's trying to steer me away from white.

I think you should wear white if that's what you want, and I think you'd look very nice in it Smiley smile

I do not understand the recent trend of wearing white to all wedding events honestly. People know you are the bride. Some people just look better in color. But it's just personal preference.

Haha, thanks StitchingBride. I still haven't made up my mind yet and I HAVE been having trouble finding a white dress in a style that I like and will be figure flattering. If I broaden my search outside of white though, that becomes a whole lot easier.

I think it's kind of fun to wear white, but it definitely isn't necessary! To me, I felt the same way for my bachelorette, how many chances do I get to wear a white dress? Might as well take advantage of it Smiley smile

If you want to wear white, go for it! It's just a matter of preference. I haven't decided exactly what I'm going to wear, but I think I would like a little white dress if I can find the right one.

I'm wearing a white dress with teal pumps and accessories. I just love our skin tone in white so I'm biased to white dresses Smiley smile

Kerri- Exactly my thought process, why not wear white as much as much as possible. But now I'm second guessing.

Alicia- I 100% agree! And I love the idea of a brightly colored shoe, or maybe even a statement necklace...hmmm

I'm going to be wearing white most likely, but that's because I have 2 dresses that are too short to be worn appropriately by themselves (almost the right length, but boy I can't move, bend, or jump) and probably some really colorful leggings so that I can be appropriate, colorful, and bridal all at the same time lol! I like white, it makes me look tanner which is great since I can't tan anymore as being light sensitive now :/
