FH and I finally landed on something fun for the both of us for the honeymoon! We've been tossing back and forth so many ideas and we agreed Universal Studios (really just for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Yes!) and Disney--I've never been and they're adding more and more star wars stuff all the time which is exciting for both of us!

What I wondered though is if you think 1 day for both Universal parks is enough? Or should we do 2 at each Universal and Disney respectively? Our Honeymoon is only going to be 5 days max. Ideally 4 though. We're going in October which is an off season so that'll help.

Can anyone help with a timeline?

    1. Try to avoid weekends. Weekdays are less crowded because kids are in school. It will be way less crowded at Disney or Universal on a Tuesday in October than it is on a Tuesday in June or any Saturday.

    2. Halloween Horror Nights happens at Universal in October. It's pretty cool.

And there is definitely an off season. It's called January. It's the best time to go in my opinion.

If the wedding date you have posted is correct and you are honeymooning around that date, the annual Food & Wine Festival will be going on at Epcot during that time. If either of you enjoy trying new foods/cuisines and good beers/wines/cocktails I'd very much recommend looking into that and making one of your Disney days at Epcot. That is hands-down my favorite time to be at Disney and is a wonderful event. (there are lots of special experiences that go along with the festival as well like special dinners you can reserve, tastings, culinary demos, celeb chef meet & greets, etc.)

I really recommend at least a day per park, whether it's Disney or Islands. Trust me, there is always something to do and never enough time.

No problem. Disney Food Blog and All Ears.net are also great resources outside of the Disney websites themselves. For the Food and Wine festival specifically, they are both great at releasing festival news and updates as it get's closer.

I am in Orlando now and we just spent the past two days doing both parks at universal. We literally were there six hours each day and we had more than our fill. Even though this is considered peak season, the lines weren't bad. We skipped transformers because it had a 2 hour wait yesterday, but everything else had a wait time of under 30 minutes. I would strongly suggest doing both parks in one day. I wish I would have listened to others advice about it because we wasted an extra day (and a bit more money) that we could have spent at Disney. Also, unless you get the park to park tickets, you can't ride he Hogwarts Express, so my suggestion is to do a one day park to park ticket. No, we didn't ride every single ride at both parks. But we were mostly interested in the Harry Potter parts anyway.

I strongly suggest visiting Magic Kingdom if you haven't before. It's my favorite park. Epcot is really cool, but there aren't a lot of rides there. I think it's more adult oriented honestly. Animal kingdom was also really great when we went, but it's been about ten years since I've been there. As far as Hollywood studios goes, we went just to get on the rock n roller coaster and the tower of terror. We left immediately after both times I've been to it. So if you're not really into roller coasters I would definitely cut it before I cut any of the other parks.

Honestly my favorite part about Disney is the water parks. Blizzard beach is awesome. And they're cheaper than doing the actual parks. It would give you a little bit more time to relax if you could do it at least one day. They have beach areas and it's so nice to just hang out there.

If you do a 2 day ticket for Disney you can add the water park option on for like fifty bucks more and it would give you two water park days, which is a pretty good deal.

I just did Disneyland for 3 days and it wasn't enough. But we have kids so we go slower. Next trip I will be doing at least 4 days. You can do Universal in 1 day though I think.

    Thanks Cierra good to know.

We have zero interest really in going to the water parks. Neither of us have ever really been big fans.

We're definitely getting park to park tickets for pretty much every day we're down there.

If you have never been, you definitely want to shoot for 1 day per park if time allows especially for Disney! However, with time constraints, having the park to park passes will help a lot because that way you have the freedom to get done what you would like. Plan to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks if you can! And as others have said the Food and Wine Festival should be going on, and it is so much fun!

We just returned from a week long honeymoon at Disney World. One thing about Hollywood Studios, they have closed down a bunch of attractions to make way for the new Star Wars stuff but that won't be open for a couple years. You could probably park hop between Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in one day. The new Star Wars fireworks at Hollywood Studios are amazing!! Magic Kingdom will always be my favorite park and a full day must do!

I am going to echo the 1 park a day sentiment for WDW. Especially if you have never been there before. WDW is such an amazing destination. There is so much more to do now and so many great places to eat at and shows to see. If you do decide to visit WDW i highly suggest staying on property. They have a transportation system that will transport you to the parks from your hotel. You won't have to worry about parking or anything which can be a headache. They also have some unique ways of getting to some of the parks such as the monorail or by boat! October isn't a particularly busy time...but Magic Kingdom also holds Halloween Party on some nights that will close that park down early for it's attendees for trick-or-treating. (it's a special ticketed event but is super fun) Also as mentioned the Food and Wine festival is going on too. I've heard nothing but great things about it, especially if you love seasonal food offerings and wine pairings/spirit pairings.

No way one day is enough for islands and universal. Disney is made up of four parks. Highly recommend you dump the universal idea and stick with Disney. Living close to Disney, it's easy for us to shoot up for 2 days and come back home. It seems as though you may not be from Florida. So I HIGHLY suggest you take all of those days and spend them at ONLY Disney. You want a good one full day in one park.

If you stay on property though there's no use for the ferri or the monorail because the bus drops you off right in front of the gate (unless u get a park hopper and do different parks in one day, I see the monorail coming into use) but like PP mentioned. Check Magic Kingdom's calendar. The MNSSHP is on select nights and the park closes earlyyyyy on those select nights.

We did 3 days (well we made it 2.5 after that i was a little heat exhausted and needed sleep) for universal- i am assuming we are talking Orlando here.

When we did Disney (with a 6 and 8 year old in tow) we did 7 day trip - 1 day each park. With did the water park pass and went to each water park once and spent the day in the middle at the hotel relaxing and swimming

Id spend all four days at the wizarding world... But that's just me. If you've never been to Disney I'd totally reserve a day for that...

2 days is not enough for Disney alone. Florida native been to both Disney and universal/islands. I know Disney like the back of my hand I can do Disney in 1 day with a park hopper ticket (4 parks total for Disney) now park hopper I will warn you is not enjoyable when you actually want to take in all of the 4 parks. Same situation with universal and islands of adventure. I was personally considering this same trip scenario but still have not decided and can't move forward till my job lets me put in my LOA. Definitely do yourself a favor do not attempt Disney in one day it's not possible and not as enjoyable for a first time experience. I only do what I do because I been there so many times I just go straight to the attractions I like then off to the next park and pick one park to finish the night. Oh off season yes less people for Disney but still pretty full if you ask me. ETA: magic kingdom is my favorite out of the 4 Disney parks I recommend ending the night there if you do a park hopper option.

We have passes to Universal so we go all the time.. that said, we can easily get through both parks in one day with a fast pass. However, none of the good Harry Potter rides are included in the fast pass. I recommend getting there as soon as the park opens and going straight back to Gringotts, then take the train over and hit up the castle before the lines get crazy.

Im not really a disney person so...

We just did 9 days in Disney, one of which we did a side trip to Universal. I personally felt one day was enough for me in Universal but that's mostly because I was mostly interested in Harry Potter. I mean I easily could have spent more time there, but every time we walked into a non-Harry potter section of the park, I just wanted to go back to Harry haha. Echoing what others have said, Epcot is amazing for adults. We spent a few evenings there drinking around the world, getting unique snacks, going into the shops, etc. It's definitely my favorite park, and a little more laid back than Magic Kingdom. No matter what you do you will have a great time, but definitely try to really nail down your priorities because there's a ton you won't be able to see and do and you will stress yourselves out if you try.
