FH and I finally landed on something fun for the both of us for the honeymoon! FH and I finally landed on something fun for the both of us for the honeymoon! We've been tossing back and forth so many ideas and we agreed Universal Studios (really just for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Yes!) and Disney--I've never been and they're adding more and more star wars stuff all the time which is exciting for both of us!

What I wondered though is if you think 1 day for both Universal parks is enough? Or should we do 2 at each Universal and Disney respectively? Our Honeymoon is only going to be 5 days max. Ideally 4 though. We're going in October which is an off season so that'll help.

Can anyone help with a timeline?

Yeah, I would do 4 days in Disney, 1 day in Universal.

I could spend weeks at Disney lol there is always so much to do! One day at Universal will be sufficient, but I would spend 4 at Disney and try to do a day at each park.

I'd do Magic Kingdom first because you need a lot of energy for that park! Save Epcot for the end because it's fun and relaxed.

@Ashley I am from Ohio and not going to Universal is out of the question. simply for the WWoHP. That's the main reason we're going. Disney was just honestly an add on since I'd never been.

I guess my main question is can we do Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure 1 day. Relax a day in between and then spend 2 days at Disney doing Magic Kingdom and Epcot? @April thanks for the Potter specifics!

No, I would not recommend one day for both universal parks. You have to plan for at least one hour for each of the bigger rides due to wait times so unless you're only riding a couple of rides, you'll definitely need a day for each park.

My FH and I are doing Disney and universal too!! We're going for a week and doing 4 days at Disney because you really need it to go to all 4 parks and then we're doing 2 days at universal, one for each park! The only way 2 days would be enough at Disney is if you're going to Disney Land in California. But Disney World, 2 days wont even let you see and do half the stuff

@whitneyyvonne our budget it really only going to allow us 4 days. 5 if we go over a bit. so i don't mind just hitting the highlights. We will have forever to go back. and experience some of it for the first time maybe with future children.

The main thing i want is to do something with FH that will be fun for both of us. I am not worried about seeing everything. I want to see WWoHP and just 2 or 3 of the Disney parks.

If you are going mainly for HP world, 1 day should be plenty for universal. Just plan ahead timing to make sure you hit everything you want. Look for the pass that let's you in an hour early. There's so much more ground to cover at Disney 3 days would definitely be better.

If you really only care about Harry Potter, then 1 day would be good for Universal, just make sure you get the park hopper! And I recommend a whole day at magic kingdom and then Hollywood studios and Epcot for Disney!! I understand where you're coming from!

2 days minimum at Disney (if you don't plan on going to California adventures) and at least one for universal. I'm not that into universal so I would only spend a day there. Keep in mind that in October the parks close earlier as well and some rides will be closed for renovations. Space mountain is supposed to close September ish for an upgrade.

I also didn't read the whole thread, and know nothing about Disney world. So if that's where you're going, ignore me. Lol

2 days for Disney not close at all. There's 4 parks plus Disney springs and and Disney arcade type studio. The parks are HUGE. If your looking to go to Stars wars stuff stick to Hollywood studios. I would also do Epcot. Do y'all have kids? If you do are you bringing them with you? Without kids I don't see any reason to go to magic kingdom( they don't serve any alcohol) lol

Ah! So fun just remember this definitely won't be a lay on the beach and relax kind of vacation, you're are going to do A LOT of walking so bring GREAT shoes. As long as you are okay with not seeing "everything" you'll be fine.

If WWoHP is your main stop for Universal then one day should be fine. Definitely do the 2 park pass so you can ride the Hogwarts Express. Universal out did themselves with this part of the park so definitely walk around and just look at everything, it's worth it!

As far as Disney goes, I'd have you and your FH sit down and pick your top 2 things for each day that you want to do. There are a MILLION things and Disney and it can get SUPER overwhelming so if you focus on just 2 "must-dos" per day then it works out pretty well (mine is always the Wishes fireworks at the end of the night at Magic Kingdom). You know that you can always go back in the future to get even more attractions or shows done. I'm torn on what parks to tell you to do because you are a Star Wars fan, I'd personally recommend getting a park hopper so you can do Hollywood Studios in the morning and then Epcot in the afternoon/night for Food&Wine Festival (because holy food Batman) and then MK for a whole day. My parents have had a timeshare there since I was born so if you have any questions feel free to ask (:

You're gonna have an awesome time!

@partyof2 we don't have kids. And it basically comes down to what 2 parks people would go to if they've never been before. We can always go back some day.

@caitiemac it's funny you say that because that's why we decided on this for the HM. FH isn't the sit still kind of person lol. I am fine either way. This has all given us a ton to take under consideration. Smiley smile especially because this will be the first trip we will have taken together.

If you're mostly going for Harry Potter, get a 2 park pass for a day (you can ride the Hogwarts Express between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade - and yes, you do go through the wall at Platform 9 3/4). October is also Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, if you're into that kind of thing. If not, get to the park early since Universal Studios will close around 5 (Islands of Adventure will be open a couple of hours later.)

I'd say Universal is a two-day... I'd spend one whole day just at Harry Potter! Disney... We've had annual passes for 3 years and still haven't done it all!

My advice would be to pick the main things you want to see, and go into it knowing you aren't going to do it all. If Star Wars is your thing, pick Hollywood Studios. Though I haven't been since they started construction. I personally would go magic kingdom all day, every day. But I love the overall experience of MK and not necessarily just the rides. Smiley smile
