Unique engagement rings

Taylor, on September 20, 2013 at 1:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 42

Hey brides and brides-to-be! I'm interested in which of you ladies have unique or different engagement rings? Colored diamonds, different stones all together, interesting shapes? I have a cushion cut green amethyst set in rose gold with a diamond halo and get comments on how "different" it is and how it's "not really an engagement ring, is it?" from some of the more rude observers. I just wanted to know if there were any other girls out there with something besides the traditional diamond solitaire engagement ring

Here's my ring...I love it because of the contrast of a pink diamond surrounded by black diamonds

Happyinlove that is such a beautiful story! It's amazing how materialistic some people are. I told my fh he could propose with a ring pop and it was a running joke for a while.

Cushion cut 3 stone rubies, with 3 tiny diamonds between each stone...

I'm hoping for black diamonds for my wedding set :-)

Only thing I've gotten was from fsil I can't stand(not can her own family). She took one look, clucked her tongue, and said "ohh yeah, it's man made"...bitch please, everything you own was stolen, or bought using proceeds from drugs or stolen merch. Don't talk smack!!!

Other than her, everyone's loved it. Especially fh. I chose it bc I love rubies and red is his favorite color ;-)

Not sure on the cut, tanzanite with little diamonds on the band which is white gold. (FH was given it by my mum since he was looking into upgrading my current created sapphire and silver ring after the wedding - the fact this was my mother's just makes it all the more special to me... and more paranoid about damaging it.)

    It's actually my profile icon.

Ruby center, diamond petals, emerald leaves. He had it custom made to resemble a Tudor rose (it's not exact - that would require an extra level of ruby petals outside the diamonds, making the ring huge). I haven't heard anything rude yet, not that I care. And engagement ring is given at engagement. Diamond engagement rings became the fad when DeBeers started playing commercials on the radio. It's commercialized, not tradition.

I too have an engagement ring with no diamonds. I have a total of nine white sapphires in my ring.

I've never had people question my ring being a "real engagement ring" however it is unique and completely one of a kind. Designed and handcrafted by our jeweler with 2 antique cut sapphires in between split shanks and covered with hand carved details. We had a family heirloom diamond set in it so it still has a "typical" diamond center stone. My wedding band matches it with diamonds and sapphires and the same carvings all over it.

My engagement ring (and wedding band) has baguettes in it. I think that is unique and different. It's exactly what I wanted, and it is the LAST ring set of its kind to ever be sold. Still diamonds, so I guess it's not that different, but I love that no one else will ever have this ring after me.

Sadly rude people will always be there. When I show people my ring I tell them I picjed it out and why to try and cut it off there about it not being a diamond Mine is amethyst and represents our birthdays which are a day after each other. I picked out my ring since he got impatient and proposed before he got one. Also his brother told Me I was getting something big and I kept pestering him lol. I saw this and fell in love. My wedding ring will be the citrine one, my fav color and is arriving today Smiley laugh

I fell in love with a twist design that I saw online but knew I wanted something a little different. I gave DH a few ideas on how I wanted it to look, he took the diamond to our jeweler along with the pics and said "make me something she'll love!" I loved my E-ring! I had a few people question it, since "that doesn't look like an e-ring, are you sure you're engaged?" Oh well, I loved it and that was all that mattered! Then came time for the band...we went back to the jeweler with more diamonds and said, "make something you'll love!" and he did. I absolutely love my rings now that I have the band! Our jeweler has several pics on his phone, and in his shop that he just loves to show off!

    1st pic is e-ring alone

2nd pic is e-ring and band (and DH's band, people question it as well since it's wood)

The ring his late father proposed to his mother with over 50yrs ago, classic in stone and shape, unique in story and family history

My ring wraps around in diamonds, so it's entwined. We picked it out together, but he actually found the setting originally Smiley smile

I just love it, and it sparkles so beautifully! I got a bit of trigger finger there...hence, the two hidden comments Smiley winking

Thank you all so much! All of the rings you ladies have posted are beautiful! Seeing the different colored stones and the different shapes makes me feel so much better! I absolutely love my ring, and wouldn't trade it for the world! I'm just so glad to see that I'm not the only one that wanted something out of the box!

Mine is a traditional 3 stone diamond ring but my diamonds have a special story. My godmother left a ring to me when ahead passed away (3 large stones and 15 small ones). The ones in my engagement ring are the 3 big ones and the small ones will he put into my wedding band

My ring is a blue diamond, surrounded by white. I love it because it's simple, elegant, and vintage inspired.

Custom ring with a yellow cushion diamond surrounded by white ones. FH and I have looked at different rings before and this was the perfect combination of everything I wanted. I love it. I haven't picked out by wedding band yet but I'm thinking a plain band with engraving inside.
