Unconventional gifts you wished you received (bridal shower/wedding registry)

Sofya, on May 24, 2017 at 5:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 64

Me and my husband aren't rich, but we do have everything we want. We don't need napkins, pans, basically more stuff.

So I'm thinking about registering for some other cash type of things. We found a perfect website and now we really want to make it personal and ask for things that would be fun, something like a stacation, house down payment help, a tandem skydive for two, etc. Smiley smile.

But that got me curious: have you asked for any gifts like that and maybe you have some cool ideas you could share OR you didn't and if you wish you asked for something what would it be? What is the story behind Why you'd want that gift?

P.S. Maybe it's not an experience, but something 'personal', like some custom Etsy thing, etc.

Excited to see your responses! Smiley smile

No because it's rude and tacky to ask for cash.

If you don't register for actual gifts then don't have a shower. How rude would it be to sit there an open envelopes of cash?

If you need money for down payment on house then save up. NO ONE needs to give you money for that? What's next? Asking your guests to cover credit card bills?!?!?

    Nope. Nope. Nooooope.

You can't ask for money. Even if it's pretending to be experiences rather than cash. You. Can't. Ask. For. Money.

Make a small registry or no registry at all. Most people will give you cash. Period. The end.

Please tell me you're not registering for a vow renewal.

You said you and your HUSBAND have everything you need.

If you're already married, you don't register at all.

NO. People don't ask for this because it's extremely rude.

Are you already married? I would advise against this. If planning a wedding either make a small registry or don't make one and you guests will get the hint.

No, I wouldn't register for any of the types things you mentioned.

Have a small registry or none at all. You'll most likely get money from a majority of your guests and can put that money towards all of the things you mentioned.

Oh boy.. why do people think this is always an awesome idea?!

You don't do this. Either register or don't. People will get the hint. Also, if you are already married and renewing vows, you don't. Plain and simple.

Ok. The best way to do this is NOT TO. If you don't want those gifts, register for other items or don't register at all. Ppl will get it. Housing down payments, staycations, etc are for you guys to fund not your wedding guests.

    It's rude and downright tacky.
