Traditional Ceremony Muscic- What are you walking down the aisle to?

Sunny, on April 4, 2011 at 6:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

For those of you who picked out your ceremony music, what did you choose?

We have:

Family seating: Jesu, Joy of a Mans Desiring

Wedding Party- Canon in D

Processional- Trumpet Voluntary

Recessional- Hornpipe

The one I keep debating is mine- the processional. I originally wanted to use Canon in D, but I know it has a sort of slow start. And my fiance menioned he wanted something a bit more upbeat Smiley sad Any other suggestions?

A friend of mine and his band-mate are playing acoustic guitars

When everyone walks down the aisle: In my life - the Beatles

And when I walk down the aisle: Annies song - John Denver.

I figure he can play the beatles song when everyone is leaving.

I am totally walking down to Canon in D. You could see if your musicians can work with the music a bit to liven it up?! If you're not having musicians, I'm sure there's a version out there somewhere that's lively Smiley smile

As the doors of the church open and I stand there, the musician will play the 1st chords of the bridal march, then when I start walking a soloist will sing Luther Vandross "So Amazing"

My FH is walking into my oldest daughter and his son playing Heart's "Crazy On You" on acoustic guitars, no vocals. We love the music, but the words are not quite appropriate.

I am walking into my other daughter singing Etta James' "At Last"

We are exiting to Genesis' "Follow You, Follow Me"

    Ours are similar.

    Family seating: Air by Bach

Processional: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring

    Bridal procession: Trumpet Voluntary

Recessional: Psalm 19 by Benedetto Marcello

Smiley smile We also opted not to use Canon in D because of the slow start.

We are still in the planning stage of our ceremony but giving the type we are having we will not have seating. It will be more of a gathering. Our entrance music will be Michael Jackson's, Thriller. We just haven't decided if we want to all walk to the front at the same time. The Wedding Party, groom and then the bride instead of separate songs.

Jennifer O - LOVE Annie's song. Definitely have that as part of our day somewhere with a spotlight on it (maybe as the music for our slideshow...since we met in highschool.."come love me again" seems somewhat appropriate). At this point I am planning to walk down the aisle to my daughter's cello instructor playing "The Wedding Song" - my daughter will be walking me down the aisle, so she can't play during that time Smiley sad The song is very sentimental to me in that my FH's father really wanted to sing it during the wedding/reception, but I don't like it all that much Smiley sad His father has since passed away, and it seemed like the highest tribute we could pay to him (and I find that I like the melody Smiley smile. That's all we have chosen for ceremony music thus far...

    Hi,

Is there a reason you didn't want to consider the Wedding march (Here Comes the Bride) by Wagner? that's about as traditional as it gets.

Carlos, you'll almost never hear Wagner's Bridal Chorus in a Jewish, Catholic, or Lutheran wedding because he was...well, a racist, antisemitic douche. In terms of the quality of the music itself, I think there are much better songs out there anyway.
