Too soon to find a wedding dress?

Britney, on December 9, 2019 at 8:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 112
Hi everyone! I may just be freaking out for no reason, but I wanted some advice.

My future mother-in-law and I were dress shopping for fun over the weekend. When we went to the second store to try dresses on, this dress on a mannequin caught my eye when I walked into the door. It was just so sparkly and pretty. I tried on other dresses then realized I had to try on the dress that caught my eye or I would regret it. I tried it on, and I couldn’t stop staring at it. When the veil was put on me, I almost cried. My future mother-in-law said that she never saw me smile so much in a dress. Apparently I lite up when I was in the dress. I liked how it made me feel, and it was the kind of style that I wanted, tulle. I could just imagine getting married in it. I decided to say yes to the dress. It was even 20% off. My wedding is June 12, 2021. Was it too soon to find a dress? I’m worried that it was too soon. I always start second guessing myself. I’m also worried of what people will think of it because it’s a little more plain. What do you all think? Please helppp.

Eh buy it when you want to. My elopement is next fall and I bought mine in November ha ha. The worse that will happen is you may see another dress that catches your eye but nothing wrong with finding a good deal and wanting to jump on it. That is how I bought my dress and it was not planned but I do not regret it. Congrats.

Haha You must’ve found the right dress then. I was really thinking about the deal. However, if I wanted to get it, I had to because it was the last day of the sale. Thanks for your advice. It makes me feel better about my decision. 🙂

    Can we see the dress?

As long as your body shape and style preferences don't change then there's nothing to worry about.

However, if it were me in this situation, I know that when the wedding started getting closer a new wave of excitement would kick in and I wouldn't be excited about the dress I got over a year ago and would want to go dress shopping again for the new excitement of a new dress.

Sure! It fits me nicely. It def needs alterations. I’m also getting the straps removed. I see what you’re saying. However, I’m indecisive and usually have a hard time making decisions. I’m surprised I was able to make a decision so quickly.

Too soon to find a wedding dress? 2 Here’s me next to the dress. It’s champagne and ivory colored with beading on the chest. I am going to get the straps removed.

    It's gorgeous! I definitely don't think it's too plain.

    Will you wear a veil?

It sounds like you made the right decision then! Especially because it was on sale! Smiley love

I bought my dress about 15 months in advance and never regretted it. But I think I’m in the minority. Just make sure to get it fitted again a few months before the wedding.

I would say look into getting straps removed because they may need to add to the bodice. In that case time for the dress to be altered could take some time and it gives you time to save for alterations and buy nice accessories. Congrats, it is pretty.

Your dress is gorgeous! My advice would be not to look at any more dresses now that you have bought one! The main reason people will say it is too soon is because new designs will come out and you may see other dresses you like and become confused. But, if you don't look at dresses on social media or go into bridal stores, you should be good to go! Congrats on finding your dress!

My wedding is october 2020 and I bought mine in January of this year. The shop had to order it from the designer and it didnt come in till July. I'm making alterations and my first fitting isnt until next month. I dont think it's ever too early!

Nope! My wedding is in January 2022 and I've already found and ordered mine! It just requires being aware of you weight in the mean time so that alterations don't end up being too drastic

Mine was also purchased about 15-16 months out Smiley smile I think as long as you love it, it’s the right one. I would just be careful not to alter it too much so soon before the wedding in the event of weight loss/gain.
