Hey ladies, so I'm relatively new to the whole posting thing but here goes. My FH and I are getting married June 17th on the beach in Lake Tahoe and now that I've graduated and am done with school for a while I have time to finish planning the wedding which means I've had a lot of time to think...

Hey ladies, so I'm relatively new to the whole posting thing but here goes. My FH and I are getting married June 17th on the beach in Lake Tahoe and now that I've graduated and am done with school for a while I have time to finish planning the wedding which means I've had a lot of time to think about the details and start second guessing myself...

Having said that I'd like to get your guys' opinions on the dress, I almost feel now that it's too much for a wedding on the beach. This may be the stress talking, but I'd love to get some feedback (too big etc.)

I always dislike when people worry about their dress looking right with their venue. To me, dress is #1 lol. I've bought 2 (ugh) dresses now, and probably neither go with the rustic woodsy beachy feel of my wedding. But I don't care, because the dress I ended up with is fabulous, and I never have dress envy anymore!

Now, with that said, I could see why you wouldn't want sand spurs and twigs and junk all up in yo train. Most spots on our beaches are clear of that stuff, so that was never a thought of mine. But if your beach has a lot of debris, maybe go through with a rake the morning of, that way your train can drag gracefully and safely through the sand.

The dress is beautiful! I'm getting married onthe beach and have probably a little mre train then you do...I amjust having them stake down the isle runner so the train won't pick it up and i think it will be fine

I think the dress isn't too much dress at all! My husband and I got married on the beach and it was ore of a traditional style of dress! I don't think it matters what dress you where on the beach as long as you feel that you look amazing in it and that you love what you see!

ps. Your dress looks amazing on you!

pss. heres a photo of mine.

Ms. Conway I love your dress, you look so beautiful =)!

Yeah I'm not too worried about debris I've been there a few times and it seems pretty clear. I'm done worrying about this, thank you so much ladies! I'm confident in my choice...

And now all I have to do is get it altered as it's too long and add a bustle(which is going to require some research I think lol), well and decide on a veil/no veil with just a flower and on jewelry. May be asking advice on this in the near future.

Your dress looks fabulous on you! I've had the same thoughts about my dress (getting married on Maui, on the water but grassy area because the beach is rocky at the venue) that it's too much or too heavy but decided to have the attitude of I love it so whatever! Your not alone! Smiley smile

This is so funny because we are having a beach wedding and I was planning on a basic JCrew or Ann Taylor dress until I went to the bridal shops! My fiancee has been cracking up asking "what happened to the little white sundress?" I say go for it - it is your one day to wear a big white dress and the pictures will look amazing!!!

These are pictures of dresses at Tahoe, and they also have trains like yours. Your dress is going to look awesome on you on the beach. Go for it.

Who cares where you wear that dress! Love it!!!! Smiley smile It's honestly all about HOW you wear it anyway- If you're comfy and feeling pretty it really won't matter.

I think it is just fine and the fabric doesn't look like satin at the bottom so that is good. Satin tends to pick up sand easier, is that chiffon or organza ?:-) I think it looks perfect! roll with it! I love it on you :-)

I think it looks great on you and will be fine for the beach. If you like it, I say go for it! It's actually similar to the dress I got for my beach wedding.

The dress is beautiful, but might be hard to pull off on the beach. I've worked with many beach brides and usually "less is more" works. You might also want to consider not wearing traditional flip flops as they will kick the sand up and under....

Well, this is a good 5 years after the above comments but I just have to express my heartfelt apprecia for all of the beautiful feedback and encouragement given to the OP.

And personally, I have a stunning lace gown with a train that I will be wearing on the beach for our wedding in 3 weeks.

I was starting to question myself (too dressy? Will it get too dirty?)

Thank you all for your common sense encouragement. Yes, I'm going to rock this gorgeous gown, in the sand, on the beach! It'll get sandy and dirty but who cares?

As long as I feel beautiful in it, that is all that matters. As one poster wisely said, if you feel beautiful in your gown, you'll look beautiful no matter what the venue!
