Things you wished you remembered/ thought of

Aariel, on January 14, 2020 at 11:37 PM Posted in Planning 9 41
What are some things you wish you remembered on your wedding day? Or would have thought to bring? I’m so nervous about forgetting something or not even thinking about something I would need
I don’t even know what I don’t know! I’m basically planning by myself bc I live states away from my family and my fiancé tries his best but he works really long hours and can’t have his phone on him
I’m just looking for some advice thank y’all !

I'm not married yet, but this is a great question! Thank you for asking it. I think my biggest fear is that I'll be so preoccupied with everything else that I won't savor every single moment whether it's good or bad. To just be present in each moment.

Not yet married but I like to think of it as “you only really need you, your spouse, an officiant, a wedding license, and one or two witnesses, everything else is a bonus!” It helps keep you from spiraling.
That being said: wedding day emergency bags are life savers: you can buy thempre-made or you can make them yourself. Incl: tampon, spray deodorant (that way your party can share), nail polish remover cloth, clear nail polish, white out (trust me, it can come in handy), mini hairspray, safety pins, clear/ white thread, tissues (obviously), eye drops, Advil, and a tide to go stick

I got married in July. One thing my husband forgot was one of the groomsmen's gifts. The morning of the wedding I wish I had been more organized because I misplaced my jewelry and my bridesmaids and my mom were looking for it for approximately 30 minutes which meant I didn't get all of the getting ready photos I wanted.

I've been married before... Simple advice:

    1. Be organized - Buy totes and label them: Bride (Yes, you need your own! lol!), the groom need his own too, rehearsal, ceremony, reception, etc. Pack them like your are going on vacation. Tape a piece of paper to the top of each tote and write everything in that tote on the top as you pack it.

    2. Keep the marriage license in 1 place - and know where it is. I had a clear tote (my tote) and placed the license folder where you could see it from the outside. Without it you can't get married.

    3. If it's not done by the night before the wedding- then skip it! Don't get hung up on the last minute "Omg - what about..." stuff. Let it go!

    4. Plan extra time between tasks and extra time for travel too!

    5. A sense of humor, an ability to let things go, and a level a chill that will make everyone at ease. This will be the hardest thing to bring!

Great advice thank you!! The totes are sooo smart! And you’re right I think the hardest thing is to be able to “look” (bc I will probably be freaking out) chill and keep every one around me in a good mood I would hate for people to be in a bad mood bc of me

I didn't do enough prep the month out like I should have, if I could do it over these are a few random things I would have done: typed out a list for our DOC on where all the decor specifically goes, made small thank you bags for the vendors with a thank you note & energy drink, preplanned to have someone go to our rehearsal dinner space early to drop off the wedding party presents & custom menus so we weren't frantically putting them down as we came in, moisturized my skin & lips a little more, purchased a cuter flower collar for our dog, purchased stands for our memorial table pictures (they were all the same size so it was hard to see the ones placed in the back), and focused on getting more pictures with guests at the reception.

Just wanted to chime in...we forgot our marriage license...I put my hubby in charge of it and, surprise surprise, he misplaced it. But it wasn’t the end of the world. The next day was Sunday, hubby drove it over to the Pastors office and he signed it, with the date of our wedding.

Then, I put hubby in charge of mailing it off...when we got back from our honeymoon five days later, it had been returned unopened...because he addressed it incorrectly. 🙁🤣. Had to mail it again, there was a deadline of some number of days to get it in, we did make it. 🤣.
He’s gonna have to get better at these important details. I’m not doing it all!!!
