Thank You Cards for Office Group Gifts

Nicole, on July 28, 2015 at 12:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Both DH and my offices got us group gifts which is super nice. My office got me a picnic basket with a hodge podge of gift cards and snacks and DH's office went in together for a Target gift card. I'm not sure how to do thank you cards. Do I send a thank you card to every single person in the office who contributed. I'm not even 100% sure who contributed to the gifts. Or do we just do one thank you and hang it up on a bulletin board somewhere or no thank you at all?

My office collected a bunch of cash for me. It was an actual party so I just sent an email to everyone that came and thanked them for coming and for the gift. Without the party, I would have just asked the organizer for the names of people that contributed and sent out an email.

My department bought a cake, and pooled money together for a gift card. FH's office did the same thing. I wrote a thank you card just to my department, and displayed it in our office room (that everyone visits). This is kind of standard practice, there's a board where people will put them (for baby showers, bridal showers, retirements, etc.) FH sent an email to everyone in his office that contributed.

Thanks. That was kind of what I was thinking. Writing 10-15 thank you cards for 1 gift seemed weird and excessive.

We're also doing one card for DH's office, but he wants to mail it in. I think he should hand it in but not sure how that should go.
