Thank you card wording when one spouse doesn’t attend

Kim, on September 5, 2019 at 9:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
I have a few cousins who came and gave a gift but their wives could not come. How would I word a thank you card to both of them for the gift?

Thanks!

Maybe something like "We wish your spouse could have made it to the wedding but we thank you both for the xyz."

I would start off by thanking both of them for the gift in your thank you note. Then I would address the spouse that attended by name.
“Thank you so much, John and Jane, for the beautiful X....”
”John, it was so great to see you at our wedding!”

    Hey Kim!

I like both of the previous poster's suggestions! Thank them for the gift, thank the guest for coming and send your regards to the spouse who could not make it!

"Thank you both for the wonderful gift. We're so happy you could join us on our wedding day, John. We missed you Jane but truly hope that we can see you soon!"

Thank the couple for the gift and leave it at that. There really is no point to single out a spouse who wasn't able to attend for whatever reason. A thank card for a gift given is just that...a ty. Anything different is snide...IMHO.☺️. Deal with missing spouse at a later date and only if necessary.

Thank them both for the gift and then say "it was great to celebrate with XX at the wedding, hope to see you both soon!"
