Hey everyone, my name is Lexi and my fiancé and I will be getting married in the next month at the age of 19. I just wanted some advice for how to handle people that don’t agree with the marriage at our age, and how to handle their criticism politely when approached. I know I can’t be the only person that has gone through something like this on here. I’d really appreciate it! Thank ya!

Lol! Dressing up as an adult doesn’t make you one. So if you put on a unicorn costume, does it make you a real unicorn?

Yes, my reply above was that if you want people to treat you like an adult and respect the adult decisions your making then you should act like an adult. In all ways, big and small. Basically, if you're regularly doing things--any things--that would make a 30-something-year-old roll their eyes and think "spoiled brat, I remember being that age, ugh, I was a mess", then you're not acting like an adult. Regardless of your age, if you are acting like an adult then people are more likely to treat you like one and respect your adult decisions instead of thinking they're the whim of a silly teenager.

It doesn't transform you into one obviously, but like I said it is a start. She was just giving examples I'm assuming. I feel like presenting yourself as an adult in the way you dress is involved in being an adult. LOL
