I have left over taco salad meat but no salad. Bummer so lunch today will be taco meat beef, leftover broccoli from dinner last night. LAME but at least its low carb.
@Jo- I don't even know where to start when it comes to buying foundation...I just look at everything and get so confused lol. How do you even pick one?!?!
Eye liner- I use a gel pot eyeliner- I tried Stila- hated it- worst forumla ever.
NYX gel paint pot is the one I use and I have a maybelline angle brush- and the real techniques silicone tipped one.
Also a brilliant product- the Tarte liner- it's not really felt- but not really liquid. That thing on sale was like 15 bucks- SO WORTH IT. I love it to death- I get the most wicked wing out of it. Stable- not to floppy- but not so stiff i won't contour to the shape of your eye.
I hear Kat von D trooper is very good- but I can't speak for it.
Really happy I clicked on this today. I'm learning a TON about makeup. Jo, you rock!
ETA: Also, I have a question, have you ever used those liquid bronzers you mix in with your foundation if it's too light. And if yes, thoughts?

Sorry, got the makeup discussion going and then I ghosted. My babygirl needed to be dropped off at the groomer so she can get all pretty too!
Matt, as you know, your wife is gorgeous. Jo, you need your own YouTube page for makeup tips if you don't have one already.

I wear every colour eye shadow, warm, cool. Technically I'm a cool tone, but like Jo said that only matters for foundation. I wear any colour combination of eye shadow. I have fuschias, I have light pinks, I have dark purples, I have chartreuse (my favourite) I have teals, light blue, dark blue, green, jade, I have blacks, greys, browns. I love playing with make-up. I learned how to put on make-up from Drag Queens.
I'll second the @Jo rec for Kat Von D Trooper if you're looking for a user friendly liquid liner. Gel pot liners are fabulous--but you typically have to be a guru like Jo OR be willing to practice to get good with using them. A good day-to-day liner basic liner that won't break the bank is the Revlon ColorStay
@Sarah picking foundations can almost be overwhelming at first, esp when picking formulation and shade. If your skin isn't bad and you don't wear alot of make-up day to day, start with a BB or CC cream. Both have the benefits of having skin care and primers all built into them (bonus!) but without super heavy coverage--typically enough to even out your skin tone. BB will have lighter coverage than CC--a CC will go as far as to even out your skin tone. If you're considering a more "serious" foundation, best advice would be to go to an Ulta or a Sephora and talk to a consultant there about your skintype and what you're looking for as far as coverage and such and then have THEM match you--makes everything alot less intimidating!!
@Kir- that makes so much more sense than my method..which consists of me staring at all of the foundation for a stupidly long time and then just grabbing one lol. I actually do have a CC cream that I love. I have good skin so maybe I will just stick with that?
OG Sarah- other than going to Sephora and playing their little "color sensor game" the absolute best way to do it- is pony up- and go buy several foundation.
The ones I would 100% recommend right now (if you are not African American- b/c so sorry- you are not well represented by the drug store sad face) is Loreal.
Their have a line that is cool, neutral and warm based. One of the few drug store brands that cater to undertones. go buy one of each in a color that you think works best.
Double check that they have a return policy- most drug stores you can now return opened make up. So just suck it up- spend the 45-60$ on different ones and work it out. Then return the ones you don't like.
OR- go get swatched and get samples at sephora- and play with them and see which you like best. Then figure out which foundation you like- say Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation whatever.
Then google- Naked Skin foundation dupe- you'll find someone has found a daily wear foundation that mimics the properties of the higher end foundation you like.
@Sarah if it ain't broke and you're happy with it and I don't blame you, all those shades and bottles on TOP of the terrible store fluorescent lighting can be so intimidating. The good part about stores like Ulta and Sephora is they have great return and exchange policies for stuff you've opened and used, as long as it's within 30 days of purchase.
Swin- I don't typically use bronzers- I'm very fair and cool toned- and bronzers usually just look weird on my skin- I've only SORT of been using them- I have the physicians forumla one- Butter Bronzer- new and limited and it smells SO decadent- I like it because it's matt.
Now. I would not use a bronzer to darken a foundation- if you want to tint a foundation- use the Cover FX tint cream. It's an undertone issue.
BUT_ if you just want to warm up the face- have at it- I use a back light primer in my foundation all the time- it makes your face just positively glow. You can mix them- or you can apply one then the other.
If you really can work well being bronzed (I.e. I don't tan- I burn) - then mixing it in- or using it as a primer is brilliant- and it definitely works. It's just not something that works for me- I'm a cool toned gothling LOL.
Bronzer isn't really a good look for me generally speaking!
Jo-Rocka, I disagree about buying. You can get all the free samples you want from Sephora and mac. Get them to color match you to get close, then take home as many samples as you can, and then wear them. It's how I found my makeup.
it takes some time- but I can put this on very quickly and it stays put well (well- I have two versions at home- NYX and one drug store cheapie)
MAC makes this as well- fluidline black track- not worth it IMHO- it's rich and buttery- but it goes dry so quickly- just get a cheaper one and use it till it dries up and replaces it- I LOVE it- but ugh- so much money- so dry- so fast.
MrsM- if you don't want to buy a high end- you can just go buy them then return. Which is why I recommend either or. Yes- samples are perfectly fine- if you want to deal with it.
I personally HATE swatching in the store and asking for samples- I do it when I have to. But I don't care for it. So- just letting people know it's an option.
