Table number ideas that aren't numbers?

SW517, on September 10, 2013 at 10:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 47

Tossing around the idea of using assigned seating. I go back and forth. Mainly - I don't want our friends that don't know a lot of people to get stuck sitting with my crazy aunt, etc etc. I was hoping to do something more creative than numbers, but I can't seem to come up with 25 of anything else. Anyone doing table assignments or have ideas?

Our theme is Nautical, so instead of numbers, each table will be named after a ship.

    You could also do songs.

Say, yours and FH favorite band is the beatles, each table could be named after a different Beatles song.

How about love song names? "Love and Marriage" or "I Will Always Love You," or "Rapture of Love..." just to name a few (you can probably do this with any category of songs, really).

    The ideas are endless.

Cities, places youve lived, famous people, food, films, animals, songs, zodiac, sport teams

My cousin suggested types of cows to us.

Not super creative, but I'm doing table letters. There are 26 of those. =) Also, I've heard of other brides doing a different song name at each table, and then when that song is played, they know they can get up and serve themselves dinner (if you're doing a buffet style.)

We're doing tree names/pictures on tables with tree names and leaves on the name cards. We'll only have 8-10 tables so finding the right table won't be hard.

Love the ideas!!! I was thinking of places that were important to us, but even then I was struggling with 25. Maybe I need to go more for the songs/food/ -- oh -- beer and wine types? yum! :-)

I live in Austin, and there's lots of cool areas or landmarks - so we named the tables after those Smiley smile

ETA: most people are coming from out of town so it'll hopefully be a conversation starter at the table.

If you want to do place names do places that are important and then fill it out with future vacation ideas. For instance if we were doing it Table 1 would be Celestial House. Table 2 would be Archon. Table 3 would be St Louis Ren Faire and so on and then Table 20 might be Vermont. Table 21 would be Badlands of New Mexico. Table 22 Appalachin Trail. Table 23 County Cork Ireland. Table 24 Romania. etc etc.

I'm doing an exclectic vintage feel. Miss matched centerpieces with mason jars. gray and yellow. lace dress. I was thinking of ice cream flavors - b/c we're doing ice cream instead of cake - but we're only doing vanilla and chocolate with toppings , so I wasn't sure if that would confuse people. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.

I like Tatiana's idea of love songs!

You could do your favorite romantic/love movies.

    Your favorite quotes

Pictures of you and FH at different ages and have the year of when the pic was taken to be the table number

Vacation or places you have been together

We're doing numbers and names with words relating to relationships. Table 1 - Love, Table 2 - Everlasting, Table 3 - Destiny and so on.

Love songs, vintage movies or stars, vintage cars, or a mix of all of them!

Check with your venue before you start this project!!!

Some venues require the table number be visible - It has to do with the servers and their sections and also if there are noted food allergies which table it is at.

I have read articles about this (my FH is in the restaurant industry so we get all the weird industry magazines) and most venues/servers/doc's cannot stand when the tables aren't numbered.

FutureMrsP has a point. I checked with our venue when I first got the idea from a friend to see if it could be done and she said no problem. We went over there last week and she will just take the current numbers she has out of their frames and put in my numbers and names.

Also, someone on here a while ago mentioned that with just names people may have a hard time finding their tables unless they are in alphabetical order. Even though we are not having a lot of tables - probably 8 - we're doing numbers in addition to the names.

FutureMrsP - That's a very smart thought. Maybe I should just stick to table numbers. Nay also makes a good point that with 25 tables, it's going to take forever to find our guests tables. Maybe numbers it is.

Vintage, mismatched wedding calls for vintage, mismatched table names! Each table could be a favorite- your favorite song, favorite vintage drink, favorite colors, favorite classic car.

I just posted this to FutureMrsP's post regarding table numbers - you literally can't beat it, and it totally gets the job done without being too over the top:

We're doing both. Our tables will have in the frames that look like below. This way guests can find their tables easily, but we still want to incorporate a name for our tables.

    Table

    1

    Love
