Jason and I have been together for 12 years. We have 4 children, ranging from age 3-12 as of August 2013. We obviously did things a little backwards, due to money and life. We just kept putting it on the back burner waiting for the right time. I knew that once wedding planning would begin that I would never be able to make up my mind on dozens of things and that overwhelmed me as much as the money issue. Getting married without our friends and family present was not an option: we knew in no uncertain terms that eloping would equal death! Fast forward to July 2013. Summer was in full swing, we were spending time with family swimming, playing at the parks, camping and I found out that my father had been diagnosed with lung cancer and that the prognosis was not good. When I went to see him at the hospital the first thing he said was, "when are you getting married, Al?". When my aunt was dropping me off at home I turned to her and asked, "How long do we have to plan this wedding?". No budget to work with, no credit cards, our main income earner unemployed, 4 growing kids...how the heck were we going to pull this off? Then came the fairy god friends and family. This amazing group of people that I love with all my heart came forward and together we pulled off the cheapest and most beautiful wedding possible. They gave time, money and love. It was wonderful, fun and full of many of the most important people in our lives. In such a short amount of time most of the people we wanted there were able to attend and celebrate. With love, so much is possible!
