Table number ideas that aren't numbers?

Tossing around the idea of using assigned seating. I go back and forth. Mainly - I don't want our friends that don't know a lot of people to get stuck sitting with my crazy aunt, etc etc. I was hoping to do something more creative than numbers, but I can't seem to come up with 25 of anything else....

Anyone doing table assignments or have ideas?

Twenty-five tables is a lot. Numbers follow a logical sequence. If you're seated at table 9, you know when you find 8 or 11 you're getting close.

Other names mean absolutely nothing, and it's frustrating. Who's going to know they'll find merlot next to Chardonnay. There's no rhyme or reason. Some ideas sound great, but just don't execute well.

Your guests won't be thinking how fun and unique your table labels are if it takes them forever to find it. They'll be cussing you out instead. Trust me.

We are doing movie couple names and love quotes from the movie for our table identifiers.

We also thought about types of chocolate and color names.

We're having a literary wedding, so each table is being named after a book with a love quote from it.

I think Nay has the right idea, like Paris said it is extremely frustrating for guests to try and find a theme table if there is no logic to the order. Especially if there are several tables. If you are going to do a theme at least have some sort of number associated with it.

Our venue flat our refuses to allow theme names because it is too difficult for their servers. My venue coordinator made it very clear to me that while theme names can be very unique they can cause a lot of stress if not properly executed.

Sounds like numbers win -- I really don't want anyone cussing me out in their head before I even enter my reception! :-)

We were going to do something other than numbers but then I went to a wedding that had names and since there's never an order to that people took forever to find their seats, whereas with a number, it's numerical most of the time.

You could always do a name with a number attached to it.
