Sunrise or Sunset Wedding

soon2bkevswife, on October 12, 2012 at 6:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hi, I am new here, I recently got engaged and has just started planning for a July 2013 wedding in Orlando. I have always wanted a beach wedding at sunset. However due to finances I was thinking of having a sunrise wedding with a brunch reception. I also considered the change because I have children as do most of my family who will be attending. I want them to be able to visit Disney as well. My only fear is me or some of my guests will over sleep..I don't know which way to go and my FH is no help !!!

What time will the sun rise on the day of your wedding?

Edit- i would probably over sleep if I have to be there before 9am.

I would honestly do a sunset wedding. Sunrise is super early. You'd need to start getting ready at like 4 a.m. and that would still only give you 3 hours or so for getting ready and any traveling to the beach. You could do a lighter meal or dessert only reception to cut down on costs? I don't see how it would prevent people from going to Disney. They would have the morning and afternoon.

My FH decided we are having a sunrise wedding =) He doesn't want to be nervous all day. Fortunately for us we are going to HI and they are 5 hours behind us (might be 4 hours in March) so hopefully nobody will oversleep. The women are rising at 4:45 am for hair and makeup, pics start at 6 or 6:30 am so Pan is correct in her statement =)

Well if your doing sunrise on the beach it is about an hour from disney to the east. If your doing sunset on the beach it would be about 1 hour to the west. I know even though we get up at 5 everyday I would not want to be in hair and makeup that early. I am lucky if I throw on a coat to go feed the herd that early I would not want to be getting ready for my wedding. I agree with wanting people to go to disney. I love going there but they could go the next day. Heck you could maybe use a beach at disney?

Yeah, neither myself or my FW are fans of getting up early. We've been looking for sunset weddings since day 1.

Sunset gets my vote otherwise you'll be up at silly o'clock to get ready. It will be amazing. Do your anniversary just the 2 of you at sunrise the year after Smiley smile

Thank you all for your help, after comparing the prices and talking to our " important " guests we decided to do a morning ceremony with a brunch reception.

On July 3, the top of the sun will dip below the horizon at 8:30 here on the west coast of Florida. Siesta Key beach in Sarasota was named #1 in the country last year.

Please don’t forget to change your avatar so that we remember you more easily. (it doesn't have to be a picture of you per-say) It will help us determine spam/trolls vs real bride and you'll get a better response. Many posts with the double rings don’t get opened. Here's how to do that and more :-)

I am also having a beach wedding but we are having it at emerald ilse beach in nc . we have decided to have it at 4pm so that way it gives eveyone time to get ready and not have to be running around really early trying to get everything seat up and done and also we have some that are coming from out of town and it would just be to early for them ...

I love sunset weddings,, but when we were in Florida at a family reunion, DH woke me up and said "you have to come see this" We were in a hotel on the beach and there below us on the beach where a bride/groom getting married. The sun was almost up, the sky was glorious and the waves rippling in. It was so beautiful!

They did not have but a handful of guests but they all seemed to be enjoying it. I will never forget that scene!
