We had to push our wedding date back to Sunday, August 23rd. I’m struggling with choosing a start time. I love the idea of a 2 pm wedding but we want it to be semi formal. I don’t know if that would work. I’d love to hear your thoughts & know what you’re doing.

Are you indoors or outdoors? The one thing I'd caution about with time is considering where the sun is. During summer, the sun is almost directly overhead. It doesn't look as good in photos because the light is harsh and it creates strong shadows, and you may be squinting a lot outdoors if you aren't wearing sunglasses and your ceremony area isn't shaded. Your guests will probably be wearing sunglasses. Just something to consider when you are thinking about start time!

I think to fit in our first look and cocktail hour along with our bar package and a reasonable “ending” time, we’re looking to have a 4:30 ceremony.

Had to postpone my wedding as well.
We are now November 8th and ceremony starts at 6pm. We are going early and doing the first look to get pictures in before it gets dark.

How far did you have to push back just a few days or a few months?? Our wedding is on A Sunday and we picked 5pm... I was struggling with the time also... I had it at 3pm but I needed up changing it!🤷🏻‍♀️

If we push our wedding back to September it will be a Sunday wedding and we are keeping the same time. We know a lot of our family was taking the Friday before the wedding with our original date off. We have already been talking with them about the new date and they are just going to take the Monday off instead if we push back. Our ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30pm.

My mom voiced this concern too, but we decided on 5pm for our rescheduled wedding 8/2. I wanted to go as late as I could so it will hopefully not be too hot for the outdoor ceremony. You do what works for you!

My wedding is on a Sunday in October and it’s around noon for the ceremony and 1 for the reception.

Wedding ceremony will start at 12 I believe. Wanted to do something early instead of going late into the night

Kari, great point! I think an indoor ceremony will be best. We’re in Texas & the August sun is brutal. I wouldn’t want my guests having to sit there & sweat like a pig. (I know I would bc my dress is hot.) Thanks for pointing that out!
