Story about how you met your fiancé?

cc1234, on April 4, 2018 at 1:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 39
I just finished writing the “How We Met” segment on our wedding website and I loved reminiscing on that time in our lives and telling our story. I would LOVE to hear your stories! Copy and paste from your wedding website or type out your story below. Here is mine that I wrote for our website:

Ty and I have known each other since we were kids. We grew up in the same town our entire lives. But the story doesn't really start until a few years after we graduated high school. Let's start from the beginning. In 2014, I went to see a psychic that I had heard good things about. I was a bit skeptical but was curious about how a psychic reading happens. My session was an hour long and I mostly wanted to know about my family. Towards the end of the session, she comments "You're single right?" I nod my head yes. She says, "Well I want you to think about someone that you know but that you do not think much about." Next she says, "Northeast keeps popping up in my head." I give her a weird look. "Do you know anyone that lives in the northeast?" I shake my head no. Fast forward to 2015, my best friend Gabby and I are laying on her bed talking about how bad we want to take a summer vacation. "I have some family in New Jersey. We should go there!" she says. We started looking up places we could stay and ended up finding a beach house in Belmar, New Jersey that could fit 8-10 people. We asked a bunch of our friends and booked the house for a week in the middle of June. It rolls around the time that we are getting ready to go on our vacation and a couple of our friends were not able to go with anymore. Having a lot of mutual friends, Ty was asked if he wanted to go on the trip with us. It's crazy how much I thank god every day for Ty going on this trip with us. So there was 6 of us road tripping to New Jersey. Girls in one car and guys in the other. I'll admit right now, Ty was lookin' GOOD. I was keeping my cool though. I wasn't really worried about getting into a relationship with anybody at the time. But throughout the trip, he had shown a lot of interest in me. He was respectful and kind to me. He made me smile any chance that he had. One of the last nights of our trip, we all went to an arcade on the boardwalk. He bet me a kiss that he could beat me at air hockey and I said game on. Well I lost the game and he got his kiss. Maybe it was an intentional loss or maybe he just got lucky? He'll never know Smiley smile. Needless to say, I fell for him. We went on a few dates when we got back from vacation and on the 4th of July under the fireworks, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We have been inseparable ever since. About a month after we started dating, I get a text that says, "Oh my god, do you know what I just realized? You and Ty got together on vacation in New Jersey. Do you know what New Jersey is? It's Northeast! New Jersey is Northeast! That's what the psychic was talking about!" I got instant goosebumps. I hadn't even put the two together but it all made sense after that. I had found my soul mate.

Copied and pasted from my website LOL had to edit a few things to make sense...

Naturally, we’d like to thank two people - Stefano’s Aunt Despina and Peggy’s best friend, Dionysia, for how this all got started...

Stefano grew up in Dubuque, Iowa while Peggy spent her childhood in Cleveland, Ohio. Stefano visited Cleveland often, as he had family members living there. One Sunday, at Saint Demetrios in Cleveland, Despina pulled Stefano and his brothers aside and introduced them to Peggy and her siblings. Despina thought it would be a great opportunity for the boys to meet a few young Greeks at the church. As the introduction occurred, Peggy rolled her eyes. It seemed pointless to her to meet these random boys, whom she thought she’d never see again. That was in 2010. Fast forward to 2013...

Peggy was on her way to pick up her brother from basketball practice at St. Demetrios. Dionysia begged Peggy to hurry into the church and grab her brother, as they were late to meet up with friends. After enough nagging, Peggy ran into the gym and noticed Stefano from the corner of her eye - she didn't think much of it. Not too long after, Stefano messaged Peggy and they began to talk more and more every day. He knew how to win her over... as a first date, he asked if she wanted to grab sushi and go to a Cavs game together. With a little persuasion from Dionysia, Peggy said 'yes'. And the rest, as they say, is history...

FH and I met on February 12th, 2016 in Morgantown, WV at a local bar. I was actually the one that set eyes on him first, turning to my friend at the beginning of the night saying, "I'm gonna get his number by the end of the night," lol. Sure enough, he offered to buy me a drink, and we ended up chatting for about 30 minutes (during which, he took off his boot and showed me his Chris Stapleton autograph, lol) before my friend wanted to leave (there was a horrible snowstorm happening that night). I asked him for his number, and the next day he texted me! The rest is history Smiley smile

Where It All BeganLibby first met Tyler when she was driving through Penn State over Christmas break in 2011. Tyler's brother Wes and Libby had both been on the Penn State Ski Team in college and thought it would be nice to catch up over dinner at Cozy Thai. Wes invited Tyler along and this is where the two first met. After dinner Libby immediately called her mom to tell her that she met the best "Hall" ever! Libby jokingly told her mom she was going to marry this man one day.1200x1200_1515773638-0f236a106aaafbc2-12

Years LaterThe two did not cross paths again for a couple of years. Tyler and Libby met again while attending TomorrowWorld music festival in Atlanta with a group of mutual friends, many of which make up the wedding party. TomorrowWorld 2015 was particularly muddy that year with torrential downpours every night. Libby had sent her tent early with the boys to set up since she would be arriving late. After only the first night her tent collapsed and a group of 8 of them had to find a new home. Tyler, who brought his own tent, offered her a place to live!1200x1200_1515767127-6e33e27290c6324d-12

The Beginning Over the following month Libby and Tyler spent countless hours on the phone talking, sharing stories, pictures, and interests. Libby's mom would often make the comment "how can you have that much to talk about." Unsure of how the other one felt they both nervously waited to see what would happen the next time they saw each other. Tyler won over Libby's heart at Nightmare Music Festival on Halloween. He surprised her with a leather-bound copy of one of her favorite books, To Kill A Mockingbird, and a five pound bag of Gummy Bears. Later that weekend, as the group was dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland, Tyler asked Libby to be his girlfriend. However, if you ask Tyler his side of the story he will insist that was Libby who asked him!1200x1200_1515775686-b261759ae81a3006-10

Cross Country LoveTheir relationship was immediately put to the test when their first vacation did not go according to plan. Their flight had been cancelled at 3 am in the morning with no other flight available or at least three days. Slightly panicked but determined to ski and dance with their friends Tyler, Libby, and groomsman John rented a car and drove to Tahoe, California for 36 hours straight. They entertained themselves by singing Disney songs, running around gas stations in a T-rex suit, and counting the number of wrecked cars in Iowa. 1200x1200_1513111515-79b6ea25e0adc048-LT

    The Proposal - Take 1

Tyler proposed on March 26, 2017 at Libby's mountain house at Hidden Valley. Libby had been planning a surprise 30th birthday party (1 month, 1 week, 1 day late) for Tyler over pond skim weekend. After work Libby rushed to the mountains to convince Tyler to go out to dinner so that their friends could sneak in and set up. Tyler suggested that they go to Out of the Fire Cafe and was all too eager to go. While they enjoyed a delicious dinner Libby nervously texted everyone to make sure they were good to come back. Tyler was also acting nervous and Libby was worried that he knew the surprise. Arriving back at the house Libby excitedly entered the house while Tyler nervously followed. Everyone shouted surprise as Tyler turned the corner and his face turned to disappointment but quickly hid it. It turned out that Tyler had been planning on proposing after taking Libby out to a nice dinner but her surprise party had ruined it.

    The Proposal - Take 2

The weekend was a fun affair but as the last person left the two sat down to unwind. Within minutes Tyler was down on his knee proposing. Libby was so excited that after he was done proposing she jumped on Tyler to hug him. In the excitement she knocked the ring box out of his hands and the two fell landing on top of the box smashing it. Tyler and Libby spent the evening in their own paradise not telling a soul. Tyler lit a ton of candles that he had originally bought to execute the first proposal. They sat all evening in the flickering candle light smiling and talking about their future journey together.

These are so sweet. My FH and I met on a dating website and after 4years of dating and trying to blend 6 teenagers together, we are getting married in May 2019. We're a bit older (in our 40s) so we didnt have an elaborate proposal, which was fine by me, we're both somewhat shy and dont like to be the center of attention. He proposed at a restaurant and I thought that was sweet enough for him. Then he bent down on his knee again when we went to get the ring sized and proposed again to put it in on my finger. That was enough for me. We are happy with how things are being planned.

Copied and pasted from our wedding program:

They met in Brooklyn, NY on August 2nd, 2007 at a Tegan and Sara concert. Daryl, Kalita’s cousin, knew Kalita liked their music and bought her a ticket for the concert before even asking Kalita if she wanted to go!

After the concert, Kalita showed off her awesome skills by break dancing on the sidewalk. Cassie thought, this girl is amazing, we need to be friends.

Thus sparked a 3 year friendship, full of Kalita racking up those frequent flier miles going back & forth to NY to hang out with her new found friends.

Kalita moved to NY in 2010, where soon after they realize their relationship was more than just friendship.

Kalita moved back to California after a year. Long distance is never fun but they made it work for 8 months. Then on August 25, 2011, Cassie makes her way to California on a permanent basis!

Living 45 minutes apart for 4 1/2 years, Hayward became their new home on February 1, 2016 when they moved in together. Now, the day has arrived to continue their lives as dedicated wives to one another.

We met because he was leading a Bible study that started meeting at a house I was renting with some friends who attended/helped lead the study. We slowly got to know each other as friends and DH started expressing interest/going out of his way to do things for me (drove me 4 hours to an airport for my summer vacation when my original driving plans fell through last minute). All that attention got me thinking about him, and once I came back from my trip, he asked me out. ☺️

Where It All Began Preslee and Estevenson met in 2009 in Mrs. Coleman's art class at St. Charles West. Estevenson had just recently been adopted from Haiti and began high school. The two didn't talk much in class at the time, but they knew who the other person was. Estevenson swears he had a crush on Preslee even back then, but they were a year a part in school and Preslee graduated a year later and went off to college. Years Later January of 2014, the two re-united via Facebook. Preslee was studying abroad in Barcelona and had the chance to go to a soccer (football) game overseas. After posting pictures and videos on Facebook, Estevenson couldn't help but message her asking how she was able to go to the game (Barcelona was his favorite team!) Since that day, the two have never stopped talking. Fast Forward Within 2 months of that Facebook message, the two began dating and it took off from there. Though, they were in two difference cities three hours away (Kansas City and St. Charles) they made time for each other and drove the highway 70 route just about every weekend to be together. Preslee graduated college in 2016 and moved home and they were finally living in the same place. Three years went by and on February 4, 2018, Estevenson had the most perfect proposal waiting for Preslee where she said "YES!!" to her best friend forever.

    The Proposal

The proposal happened in Haiti with Brace for Impact 46, Preslee and Estevenson were having the time of their lives. They had spent the first day at an orphanage with 41 children while the moms of the orphanage took a day off. Twenty- two people came together to experience something that was truly a once in a lifetime moment. Sunday morning rolled around and the group was off to hike through the mountains to go to church with the local Haitian people. Preslee woke up not feeling well at all, telling Estevenson she wasn't sure if she was going to go on the hike or not. Preslee decided to go and hopped in the truck with everyone to head to the most beautiful proposal, that she had no idea about. After about a one mile hike, Kyle (founder of Brace for Impact 46) told Preslee he'd like to interview her for a promotional video for the organization. As she finished the question and answer she turned around (and didn't see until he said "BABE!") and saw Estevenson on one knee asking her to be his wife in front of 22 strangers that became family overnight, in the most beautiful place the two have ever experienced together. The rest of the trip was a high as they celebrated and talked about their lives they were about to embark on together.

We met on okcupid. Not much of a story there.

I saw his pic several times, thought he was attractive but looked immature and drunk so I scrolled by him. Finally I saw him pop up enough times I read his profile and liked what I saw. Didn't say anything though because I don't roll like that. Immediately after that he contacted me because he had seen my picture and loved my eyes. I spent maybe two weeks on okcupid when my FH and I started talking? Turns out he WAS drunk in that picture lol but he didn't really think anything would come from a match making site so he just picked a random picture.

We hit it off instantly and started talking all the time. Around the 4th day from our first conversation he told me he loved me. A week after that the semester started back up so I moved back to Galveston where I was closer to him so we finally met for the first time. On our first date we were already talking about spending our lives together. We just knew. I finished college, moved in with him, 3 years later we got engaged, 1 year after that we're getting married.

FH was my manager. He literally interviewed me and hired me 5 years ago. I still work there, and FH left probably 8 months after I started. After he quit we started texting back and forth innocently (I was in a relationship) but I realized quick that something was there. I broke it off with my then-boyfriend and FH and I started dating immediately after. We've been together ever since. He proposed on November 30th, 2016. My favorite show is Survivor, so he made his proposal reward challenge themed, which was basically sending me on a scavenger hunt throughout the house with clues leading to the "reward" which was my ring 😂 it was cute and definitely memorable haha

Me and my FH met on a dating website in 2013. We made it official in July of 2013. We moved in together after 8 months together. Right after our 4 year anniversary on September 17, 2017 we hiked to the top of Kennesaw Mountain and he proposed. We will be tying the knot September 23.

    My novel: lol

After spending 4 years with the man I swore I would marry, I realized the love was one sided and made the hardest decision of my life to move on. I broke up with him, quit my job of 4 years where I was constantly being mistreated and harassed, and looked for a new job. Newly single, back at my angry mothers house in a tiny bedroom that used to be my brothers. I was told I would be given a contract and be treated like a tenant rather than a daughter. I was without a car or job and no idea when a job opportunity would arise, I was extremely depressed. I used to have everything planned, and it all just completely dissapeared all at once. I was back to the drawing board.

Months went by and I had no job. I had retail experience for 8 years? I worked in fast food, a restaurant, a bakery, and a fast paced clothing store. I was a store manager and a supervisor and I couldn't even get a janitors job. I ran out of money. My mom took all of my tax refund and I was always stuck at home because I had no license and no car. Depression continued for months.

Finally, I got a break. I decided that was it I was done sulking. After having nightmares of being in car accidents and killing my friends in the car with me while driving, I decided to suck it up and get my license. I scheduled the appointment and got the message "Your drivers test is in 3 months." WHAT. 3 Months?!?!?! That has to be a joke. I can't wait that long. What if I get a job? I can't pay a taxi? I was horrified. But I continued to practice anyway.

The day of my test I was so nervous I didn't sleep or eat the day before. The woman got into the car and asked me how I felt. I responded "I feel like i'm going to cry." I handed her the papers. She looked them over and said "Now you're really gunna cry. These aren't the right papers, I can't let you take the test today." She was right, I did cry.

I literally felt like I was being punished for trying to make my life better for myself. My boyfriend of 4 years was always calling other girls beautiful but never me. My ex-boss told me I wouldn't be allowed to schedule vacation time unless I "did something for him." I kept trying to get out of toxic situations but kept getting shut down.

But I knew I couldn't quit, I scheduled another test for a month later.

A few days after my scheduled test, my mom gave me some good news. "Anthony messed up again and they took his license. The car is yours if you can pay to get it out of the impound." I was SO EXCITED. But wait....what's the impound fee? "$500"....my heart sank. I didn't have any money. I have a chance at a $500 car that runs and I had no money. I truly don't remember how I did it, but I paid that fee and the car was mine. Soon enough I took my test and I got my license. The day after that I got a call about an interview about 20 minutes away which I could have never gotten to without my new car or license.

My first day walking around the factory, I saw no women, only men. Everyone there was a burly, tall man aged 35-60 except for one really out of place thug looking kid. I don't get nervous but I was starting to think I should turn this position down, I thought they made a mistake. I wanted to do data entry or paperwork. This was a factory assembling light fixtures and working with soldering irons.

I got the job, I started 3 days later. No time to look back now, so I wanted to make a good impression. I made cupcakes to bring into the factory and drove myself to work for the first time in my life.

I showed up to the factory and there he was, my trainer for the week, that thug looking kid I was talking about. His name was Isaías and he had an extremely thick accent but I couldn't figure out from where. After working next to him for 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, we got to know eachother very well. His accent was from Puerto Rico even though his hair was naturally more blonde than mine. His clothing choice wasn't so "thug" after all, he was really into fashion and basketball but there's not much room for creative fashion in a dirty factory. I also learned he only moved to New York 3 years prior and just learned English when he got here. We bonded a lot about music as we both love to sing. I finally had a job I felt respected at.

After 3 weeks of working together, he asked me out on a date....in Spanish which I don't speak a lick of. Turns out he was too nervous to ask in English. But I said no. My last boyfriend was someone I worked with everyday and breaking up was a nightmare. I promised myself I wouldn't do that again so I had to say no. He was heartbroken. But as the weeks went by, he asked me 3 more times, and got 3 more no's. I realized there was chemistry, but I couldn't take the chance. I finally had a job I enjoyed and got paid well. I had a car and a license and I was okay being single. But a thought occured to me...."What if he's the one and I won't even give him a chance? One date won't kill me." After that date, the rest is history.

We met in May 2017 and eloped in September 2017. After years of being cheated on, depression, heartbreak, harassment and pain, I wont let true happiness slip away from me ever again. Isaías is my miracle, and everyday I am alive I thank God for letting me accept that job offer that day.

He was trying to order an iced cappuccino in the drive thru. Since people often don't know what they're ordering i2 was asking if he wanted a frappacinno or an iced latte. Then someone looked over at the camera and told me he worked there too. At the window, he was cute and flirty and it was love at first "what did you say?" in the Starbucks drive thru.
