So I went to a dry wedding

Laura2.0, on September 25, 2016 at 10:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 189

As promised here is the follow up. Before I get called an alcoholic bad friend the first thing I'm going say is there was no religious reason, no one in recovery, the bride and groom both drink, the reason this was dry was bc she was being cheap! I went to the ceremony it was beautiful 45 min long. The reception didn't start for another hour and half so we were all just standing around bc they weren't letting people in the reception room. The brides uncle came prepared with a cooler in his trunk, so we basically tailgated until security came. But the guard was kind enough to point us to a bar around the corner. That's were all the guest hung out. Cue to the reception. We walk in and its decorated beautifully but the only catch was there were no regular tables or seats only bistro style tall tables and stools. Why?! bc there was no dinner! It was a "cocktail" style reception with no cocktails! There was only finger foods. Let me tell you how dry this wedding was continued in comments...

There was no soda, no juice, but there were jars of tap water! So here we are almost 7pm and everyone is standing around eating sliders and drinking water. Then the bride and her party come in first dance whole shebang and that’s that. No dinner no bar the Dj tried his best to amp up the crowd but everyone was not feeling it. One of my friends was a bridesmaid and came over to chat she let me know that the bride has alcohol in the bridal suite for the wedding party but she’s being super stingy with it. Somehow the no bar no real dinner complaint got to the bride and she got aggravated and word got out that she said she wasn’t paying for other people to “ get shit faced and feed their greedy asses” and they should just be there to support her on “her day” The groom was walking around apologizing to people bc he had no idea this is what she planned. . People started to leave little by little. FH and I said congrats to the couple left our gift and went back to the bar where we found majority of the wedding guest were. Most of the wedding party came in complaining about how much of a bridezilla she was. Her own parents as well as the grooms dad came to the bar complaining about the wedding! Thankfully the bar also had food to order. So I went to a dry wedding and left early to go to a bar and eat bar food in formal wear. I am glad we went though bc we met some fun people who we partied with at the bar for the rest of the night so it wasn’t a waste of a Saturday night.

Yikes. I'll be going to a dry wedding in a few weeks along with no dinner because there's no vegetarian option. She has the same "it's my day mentality"...can't wait *eyeroll*

My condolences. That is end to end rude and horrible. The dry part is almost (but not quite) the worst of it.........

And frankly, if your attitude is, "It's my day" then celebrate it by yourself.

    Problem solved

    Cringe.

You know it's bad when her parents were complaining about her and her husband was apologizing to the guests.

    Thats yucky :[[

And I would like to call BS on the groom. How could he be marrying her and have NO idea that they are not serving food or alcohol. Unless he's as big of ass as she is.
