As promised here is the follow up. Before I get called an alcoholic bad friend the first thing I'm going say is there was no religious reason, no one in recovery, the bride and groom both drink, the reason this was dry was bc she was being cheap! As promised here is the follow up. Before I get called an alcoholic bad friend the first thing I'm going say is there was no religious reason, no one in recovery, the bride and groom both drink, the reason this was dry was bc she was being cheap! I went to the ceremony it was beautiful 45 min long. The reception didn't start for another hour and half so we were all just standing around bc they weren't letting people in the reception room. The brides uncle came prepared with a cooler in his trunk, so we basically tailgated until security came. But the guard was kind enough to point us to a bar around the corner. That's were all the guest hung out. Cue to the reception. We walk in and its decorated beautifully but the only catch was there were no regular tables or seats only bistro style tall tables and stools. Why?! bc there was no dinner! It was a "cocktail" style reception with no cocktails! There was only finger foods. Let me tell you how dry this wedding was continued in comments...

I would have been so pissed. I hope you took your gift home with you and returned it or kept your money. That's pathetic.

Maybe the dad could have helped out instead of complaining.

Ugh I'm so sorry. This wasn't a dry wedding problem, it was a bridezilla problem and that's worse.

Water???? Unbelievable. But Wendy C is right. YOU, OP, did the right thing by not "no-showing" last minute just cuz. But wow- that's ridiculous. Being stingy all the way around. Wonder how their honeymoon is going since even the groom was in the dark...

I don't think the dry wedding part is the problem. In my opinion her attitude was. I just went to a dry wedding Saturday where they served fruits, cake, and cupcakes with sweet tea, iced tea, and water around 3ish. I had so much fun. The problem with the wedding OP went to was the tap water with no other drink options, the lack of consideration for her guests, and her awful attitude. As for her *possibly* not having a budget big enough to support the number of guests she invited, that's her own fault. She should have made a budget first and had a small decent wedding instead of one she couldn't afford to properly host her guests. I get being understanding and respectful of a bride's budget, but those

Getting married should have been considerate too.

Oye. I considered a dry wedding, but the beautiful ladies here at WW set me straight real quick and with extremely valid points...

Yeahhhhh, nope. We are having drink options, food, and happy times for brunch/lunch.

Wow, it's like a 'what not to do'! We should use this post for people who turn up saying they have no idea how to get started. "Here. Do not this."

Emily, the stingy bride's ceremony is not about OP. The stingy bride's reception though, is about the OP. How do you not know this with 3 stars already? I suggest you go back to lurking and leave the keyboard alone for now, especially if you're going to attempt an attitude like that.

I think that is very rude, Yes it was her day but you invited others to share your experience with you, and for her to be so nonchalant

about the way treated her guests is unforgiving. She should have informed everyone prior to the wedding. Not to mention people took time out of there busy schedule for you. Common courtesy.....goes a long way.

Yuck! Nothing to drink but tap water?! I might be able to enjoy a dry wedding if there were at least soda and juice. I can't believe the bride had the nerve to call her guests greedy for expecting to get fed at a meal time. I wouldn't have left my gift if I were you.
