Shotgun wedding??

My fiancé & I would love to get married this December on a very strict timeline & budget. Venue isn't a problem and neither is food as we will be providing it ourselves. Any brides have advice to cut costs & time?

Rachel you weren't "attacked". You were told that you're incorrect.

We are going to Gatlinburg and having just parents there! Doing it during the week even cheaper!

With the venue being at my aunts, she has a fridge & stuff to keep food at proper temperatures.

Do you want to know why it's different?

    Thanksgiving happens every year.

    Your wedding doesn't.

Make it special and tell Aunt Susie she doesn't have to stand over the stove all damn day.

Are those the little smokies? I'm not sure what else to call them. They're like a pork sausage you usually put in BBQ right?

^God those look so freaking gross @OGK

I will never understand why people want to treat their wedding like any other family reunion or holiday. Never.

We call them cocktail weenies. They are always a hit!

What are you planning on serving?

    Rachel

    1. It's not "your day"

    2. Self-catering is a bad idea

    3. This is not a support group, and we don't validate poor hosting here.

@Aubrie Unfortunately little smokies should be served warm so I don't think your aunt's refrigerator will be able to serve them.

Why can't people just host their guests well? When I first started here it took one post of "self-catering" for me to snap out of it. There are ways to have a nice wedding without potentially making your nearest and dearest wildly ill.

Also, don't call it a shotgun wedding. It is a term that promotes pre-marital sex as something that is shameful...which it isn't.

Please do some research on wedding etiquette and re-think your wedding plans. If you just want to be married quickly, consider eloping.

ETA: No alcohol??! Oh FFS PLEASE take a breath and just read up on properly hosting guests. Please listen to advice. We aren't here to foster and support horrible ideas that will land your guests in the ER or ideas that promote poor hosting. We aren't your friends and family who will just nod along to not piss you off.
