Shotgun wedding??

Aubrie, on September 15, 2017 at 2:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 130

My fiancé & I would love to get married this December on a very strict timeline & budget. Venue isn't a problem and neither is food as we will be providing it ourselves. Any brides have advice to cut costs & time?

Elope and celebrate at a nice restaurant (you host). Don't make your own food.

    Don't make your own food.

ETA: And don't call it a shotgun wedding, especially if it actually is one.

    I second what LeeLee says!

And if you don't want to elope, have a small, intimate ceremony with your nearest and dearest then head to a nice restaurant.

Otherwise, you have to properly host your guests, which means alcohol, professionally-catered food, DJ, etc. now I don't know how tight your budget is, exactly, but all that stuff drives up costs. A Friday or Sunday wedding will be cheaper, however, and same goes for a brunch wedding instead of dinner time.

BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, GET THE FOOD CATERED BY A PRO!

Also, the term implies that the groom is being forced into it because the bride's father is holding a shotgun. So lots of connotations you might want to avoid.

Elope, then take your very close friends and immediate family out to a nice restaurant.

I honestly wish we eloped. After all the stress of wedding planning, yes I'm excited for the wedding, but I'm also just ready to be married to FH and realize the rest really doesn't matter.

Don't self-cater. Think about options such as BBQ or Italian if you want a specific location. Or have the ceremony and take everyone out to dinner afterward.

If it is that important to you to have the wedding quickly, then take PPs advice and elope.

Can I ask everyone why providing my own food is frowned upon?

Besides the very obvious health risks to your guests, why would you want to add that kind of stress for yourself on your wedding day?

I'm only assuming based on the title...but if you actually ARE pregnant, even more reason for not chancing food poisoning.

Are you serve safe certified? Who is going to keep the food to temperature? Who is going to refill and serve people?

Okay ladies, if I do my ceremony traditionally and then go to a restaurant for the reception, what do I wear to the restaurant?

Do not do the food yourself. Hire a caterer or have the reception at a restaurant that will handle the food. Do you want to be responsible if your guests get sick because the food wasn't made or stored properly? And, you will already be very busy that day. Do you want to add the stress of cooking, serving and cleaning up the mess in the kitchen? And your friends and family should not be cooking either. They should be enjoying the day with you.

If you want to save money, cit the guest list way down and have a simple dinner reception at a restaurant.

If you make your own food, who is going to make sure it is made in a safe and clean kitchen? Who will monitor the temps while the food is out? Who will take the blame and be financially responsible if someone gets food poisoning from your unsafe food?

Wear whatever you wore to the ceremony. Some restaurants have rooms for private events.

I'll wear my wedding dress to get married in, but what about the restaurant?
