Hi everyone, we're looking for some help and advice. We are planning to have custom shot glasses for our wedding and intend for them to be used during the wedding as well as taken after as presents.

First question is therefore, if anyone has suggestions as to where to produce these?

Once produced, we would like to attach some sort of ribbon/tag to the glass to identify the recipient, but not too big so that they can keep it on during the wedding (and so drink from them).

Second questions is then, how would you recommend we do this? Any tips/advice?

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

Oh, and while I'm here... for those who do not comprehend that there is indeed a difference between beer, wine, and hard liquor. For reference, the average sized woman would need to drink three 5 ounce glasses of wine to surpass the legal blood alcohol limit. Out of a standard 2 oz shot glass, 2 pours of liquor will push you past that point.

If you cant see the issue with that.. well... there is no helping stupidity.

You should be ashamed of how you're presenting yourself to the world.

@Jessica I'm sorry, I haven't read this entire thread, but I have a HUGE problem with you using the r-word. Please don't do that on these boards

Celia and Centerpiece, leave me out of your comments. I do not agree with everything you post and I do not call you out on it. State YOUR opinions about what YOU think without name dropping.

I mostly came here to figure out how such an innocuous question ended up in 10-plus pages haha but then I decided to give a suggestion.

OP, I really liked @JessRSJ's suggestion and that's actually what I envisioned when you mentioned minis. I'm fine with shot glasses as a favor, I don't see any difference between that or another type of drinking glass. I was in a wedding that gave shot glasses as favors, and they were fine. I like the ones that have your name and date on them because I do have a collection of shot glasses, and that way I would always remember where and when I got it!

As far as the rest of your plans go... I'm also very hesitant about bottles of liquor at the tables. On one hand, it seems like a huge liability issue which of course plenty of other women have mentioned. On the other hand, what about (what I would assume would be) MOST of your guests who can have maybe ONE shot, IF that - I know LOTS of people, mostly women, including myself, who refuse to take straight shots of liquor because they taste disgusting and I'm not 21 years old anymore. Actually, I think by 21 I wasn't even doing straight shots anymore -- that was like, pre-legal drinking days haha. Would you have other drink options for them? Would there be chasers or mixers available? Personally, I could see maybe taking my mini in the shot glass during the toast, with a chaser, to get the night started but after that, I would want a glass of wine or a mixed drink and I would not be able to take a second shot in a short amount of time. Just something to think about! Sorry that your post got hijacked.

    Leslie? Is that you? #dickridinggrammarclub

On a side note - DH, as some of you may recall is hispanic and comes from an area where placing bottles of liquor on the tables is a normal setup for wedding receptions. You know what? He said they always turn into a s**tshow. Adults over consuming, fights starting, etc. OP - you have fair warning for what you are getting yourself into. All I ask is that you post a comprehensive BAM complete with pictures and video, if possible

Kathleen, it was bad and potentially dangerous advice on your part, okay? Live with your own words. You posted them, stand behind them. As a vendor, I'd really expect more and I think other people do too.

Celia, I most certainly do stand by my words. I have yet to hide a post that gets other people up in arms. Unfortunately I can't show that example because you hid all of them. As a vendor and professional I expect more from you.

Underage drinking, inebriated guests, venue liability and destruction of property are just a few of the issues I see with setting regular sized bottles of hard liquor on each table. If OP wants to take these issues on (all of which have legal and monetary repercussions) that is on her. As for the favors themselves, unless the tags are attached to the glasses in someway with glue/tape/glue dots, the ribbon will more than likely slide off and create even more havoc. I love the picture posted earlier with the individual serving tucked inside the glass and the name tag attached to the bottle not the shot glass.

And I am so very glad that a certain someone isn't thinking of getting into my field, the couples would eat her alive, not the other way around.
