Shot Glasses with name tags

masmer, on February 1, 2016 at 12:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 225

Hi everyone, we're looking for some help and advice. We are planning to have custom shot glasses for our wedding and intend for them to be used during the wedding as well as taken after as presents.

First question is therefore, if anyone has suggestions as to where to produce these?

Once produced, we would like to attach some sort of ribbon/tag to the glass to identify the recipient, but not too big so that they can keep it on during the wedding (and so drink from them).

Second questions is then, how would you recommend we do this? Any tips/advice?

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

Wait you are giving them shot glasses and you want them to tote them around all night to use? You really want your entire wedding taking multiple shots all night? Also, if you want them to keep them after your wedding, do not put your name, wedding date, etc on it. Also be prepared for people to leave them and not use them.

Yes, I would not want a shot glass with some ones name, picture, date, etc on it.

Like Emmy said, no one except your parents wants a shot glass with your names and wedding date. Be prepared for people to leave them or throw them away when they get home.

I would not use this at the wedding and I would probably leave it behind if it has all of your information on it. Shot glasses are a unique favor and encouraging shots all night sounds like a mess. I would check with your venue to make sure they even serve shots, a lot of them won't.

I actually really like the idea of shot glasses. I have a few from weddings that I kept. Not so much because it has their info on it, but because it's a free shot glass, lol. But when i look at them I remember the day!

I don't remember the last time I used any of the dozens of shot glasses I accumulated during college.

Does your venue allow shots? Mine does not and many in my area don't either. I would check that first to make sure.

I use my shot glasses to organize my makeup brushes. True story.

Instead of shot glasses I am going to get wine glasses. and dip them in black chalkboard paint and write their name on it with Chalk. Maybe you could do something similar with plain clear shot glasses.

I personally would keep a shot glass as a favor but, if people are actually using them they might not want to keep them or bring them home if they're all sticky?

If you put each persons name on it then it could be their escort card. You know your crowd best but unless they are heavy drinkers and specifically shot takers, then I'm not sure how many people would want a shot glass. I don't know very many adults that have a bunch of shot glasses in their homes personally. Honestly, I actually like gifts with the names and date on them so long as it's someone I am super close to. We did wine stoppers with our info figuring that since our wedding was small most people there were close enough they would like it. For a bigger wedding where you have those less close to you it might be different.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone.

To clarify - we are not putting our names, venue or date on them. We do have a little logo though. So the points are still somewhat valid but it is a little different.

Also, in terms of carrying them around - again up to the people. But basically we envision having a table where the table seating map will be and by it will be a shot glass with everyone's name in it. They will then take it and go to their table. We will have bottles of vodka and whiskey probably at each table and will indeed have some toasts where shots will certainly be encouraged hence the need to have shot glasses at the wedding.

This is an insanely bad idea.

Hi masmer! I'm going to assume that you know your guests better than I and would appreciate something like this. Perhaps the glasses could have multiple purposes. Have them set up on a table to be used as seating/table numbers. Inside each glass or tied to each glass could be the person's name and table number. Or at the table each place setting could have a glass with a sweet note put in it and at each table a small bottle of liquor ... lemoncello (sp?), whiskey, etc. and that could be used during toasts. I have a friend who collects shot glasses, has been for 30+ years, and selects one to use during special occasions. A number of her guests take a look to see which shot glass she is using and thus a conversation ensues around the glass, how she got it, etc etc.

Congrats and cheers to you and your fiancé!!!

This will 100% change the atmosphere of your event. Possibly 1000%.
