Hi everyone, we're looking for some help and advice. We are planning to have custom shot glasses for our wedding and intend for them to be used during the wedding as well as taken after as presents.

First question is therefore, if anyone has suggestions as to where to produce these?

Once produced, we would like to attach some sort of ribbon/tag to the glass to identify the recipient, but not too big so that they can keep it on during the wedding (and so drink from them).

Second questions is then, how would you recommend we do this? Any tips/advice?

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

I think you're asking because you realize this isn't a great idea.

Also people should be able to be responsible when it comes to drinking. Are we teenagers here? Watch your alcohol intake like a responsible person

Also.. yes, your venue may allow shots... but I'd reeeally double check on the 'unattended bottles of open liquor at each table' idea. I VERY much doubt very many venues are going to let that happen. Its a liability nightmare.

@Jessica -- and with that, comes a responsibility as a host to not straight up *encourage* irresponsible drinking. A wine or champagne toast is one thing, but setting bottles of whiskey and vodka at each table and asking your guests to take shots at multiple points during your speeches is a whole other can of worms, and can make guests feel pressured to consume much more than they may otherwise.

This whole plan is just a nightmare waiting to happen.

Kathryn - perhaps my question was misunderstood. I was asking where and how to make the shot glasses. And then how best to attach people's names to them.

But at the same stage I do value the other advice. I thought I should just clarify the situation as the response was obviously greater than I had imagined.

Exactly , are we teenagers here? Do adults really need to be slamming shots at a wedding?

Type personal shot glasses into google.

No adults should be able to do what they want. So it's their decision and responsibility. They know where they are and what they are doing.

Any event serving any kind of alcohol could turn into a shit show. IMO, having any kind of self serve alcohol at a table is a liability BUT it's no different to me if it's bottles of wine or a shot(s). I'm going to trust that the bride knows her crowd and is comfortable with the risks.

I do think that chalk paint would rub off over time and that would drive me up a wall. So your favorite toast printed off and tied with a ribbon around each shot glass would be my vote! The bottle could be passed around, glasses filled and the first toast of the evening is done!

I really try not to say this often, because I get that people want personal experiences, but ohmygod there's only about a million companies that personalize things with a bajillion reviews.

Most of our venues don't allow shots anymore. And I have only seen bottles of vodka at the table at two events, both of them 100% Russian, at Russian night clubs.

Don't do this; you are really leaving yourself open to a massive liability issue, if your venue will even allow it.

Curious- if something happened, would the liability fall on the OP or the venue? I would think the venue for allowing it?

Apparently there's just a lot of irresponsible people here. Obviously having shot glasses at all you guys table would be a very bad idea. No one can pressure anyone to do anything. Just because there is alcohol and a shot glass in front of someone doesn't mean they are going to do shots til they puke. Teenagers have no sense of knowing when to stop. An adult would take a shot if they wanted but should no if they are driving or not and that it is a wedding not a bar. If people weren't responsible with drinking I would not allow them at my wedding.

The way some of these comments are posted you would think each table had a bottle of liquor per person with a stack of quarters next to each place setting. What immediately came to my mind (after thinking about how a toast would be adhered to each shot glass) was that there would be one small bottle of dessert liquor or Lemonchello or whatever. Now if the Bride wanted personalized TUMBLERS ....... well then I'd be calling the cops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Jessica, we're not irresponsible, we're MORE responsible and understand the idea of legal liability.

If something happens, you can bet everyone will be sued; the venue, the hosts and the bartenders.

If the venue says it's ok then it's ok. Then there isn't any liability. It's someone's stupid decision

Vodka and Whiskey at each table and a nipper per guest.
