Hi everyone, we're looking for some help and advice. We are planning to have custom shot glasses for our wedding and intend for them to be used during the wedding as well as taken after as presents.

First question is therefore, if anyone has suggestions as to where to produce these?

Once produced, we would like to attach some sort of ribbon/tag to the glass to identify the recipient, but not too big so that they can keep it on during the wedding (and so drink from them).

Second questions is then, how would you recommend we do this? Any tips/advice?

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

Thanks for the concern everyone. We have thought about this quite a bit and will think more but based on the weddings we've been to and having seen this as well as knowing what sort of guests we are inviting, we feel comfortable that it will not be an issue with the easier access to hard alcohol.

How is providing a bottle of liquor at each table any different that providing bottles of wine at each table?

My SIL did shot glasses and said it was the biggest waste of money. They had so many left over because people left them behind.

You are having bottles of hard liquor at each table? Oh boy...

I do think the shot glasses are a cute favor. I would keep it. I had a friend who did that, but instead of having big bottles of liquor at the table, she attached those mini ones to them so they could have a single shot. That might be better..?

Liquors a lot stronger than wine.

I like Becoming a Mrs idea!

I'm shocked that any venue would allow hard liquor to be out on tables like that. I second Kathleen's suggestion about the individual sized liquor at each spot rather than full bottles.

Regarding the tags, look at this board on pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/r1126216/shot-glass-favors/ There's a lot of ideas on there. I like the ones with the ribbon coming up each side the most.

The increased alcohol content in hard liquor. Also wine bottle has approx 6 servings, Bottles of liquor have several times that number. If you are having those bottles on the table, are you also having mixers on the table?

Yes, liquor is stronger than wine. Let's take a look at aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall those posts and comments about how the adult guests should be able to moderate themselves and that it's proper and good etiquette for the Bride and Groom to host a proper wedding ............. because it's liquor and not wine does not mean opinions should change on how to "adult" and host.

Given the plans ive heard thus far, id suggest monogrammed sick bags to be handed out alongside the personalized shot glasses and bottles of whisky and vodka at each table.

Well, because wine you sip/drink throughout the night. I rarely see someone chugging wine. Even if they did, based solely on alcohol content, they would have to drink a lot more wine to get as drunk as they would off just a couple shots of the hard stuff. People will get much drunker and they will do it much faster.

Older people don't do shots like that. Shots are basically for getting intoxicated so it will come across very immature. FYI.

I get what you're saying, Kathleen, but the common advice is also to make sure you have an insured bartender to be on the safe side, so that anyone who does overindulge gets cut off by a competent professional. With liquor on the tables, there's no safety net in case somebody does drink too much.

Those poo-pooing the hard liquor are assuming the worst of guests behavior. And having mixers at each table would be unnecessary if using a shot glass properly. Smiley winking

Jeanne, the shot glass set we had were slightly taller and fluted open, so I just use them and put all my brushes in upside down, and pencils and things like that.

It makes me feel like I am living in a Container Store catalog, though I am not. Looks surprisingly pretty.

I don't think those situations are comparable, Kathleen. In this case, people are expressing concern at the massive liability nightmare that is leaving unattended, unregulated bottles of hard liquor with no mixers or chasers and encouraging people to take shots out of them all night. Do we not see how that could turn into a complete shitshow?

If OP's fine with said shitshow, more power to them but I think it's obvious why people would express concern.

Edit: M - hmmm that doesn't sound doable with my 50 "clever" sayings mini guys. Jealous.

Eh, when you've got bottles of liquor at the table and you're asking guests to take shots at designated points during speeches, its gone a bit beyond 'adults can moderate their liquor consumption' straight into 'lets peer pressure half our guests into getting completely shit-faced!'

Wow! Thanks everyone for the advice!

I guess our wedding is not very traditional, hence why some of these things sound quite crazy!

Regarding the comment about mini shot bottles - actually we are probably going to have those as well!! We are having a civil ceremony performed by a friend at the start (we have already been married in the Town Hall) and at the end we want to give out everyone one mini bottle (there will be different selections) to toast to us and the rest of the celebration.

Thanks very much for the pinterest board!

The concern about the freely available alcohol is very much real. However, we do feel it will work. We have seen this work and also think we know our guests relatively well.

Ok so I went to my friends wedding and she gave everyone a beer glass with their names and wedding date on it. I loved it!!! I use it all the time. I like remembering things like that and she means a lot to me so I thought it was awesome. I want to do the same thing for my wedding
