Short brides, show me your wedding dresses

MrsM., on August 28, 2014 at 12:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 49

Ladies, show me your wedding dresses and tell me how tall you are please. I'm a petite bride, 5'1, and realize most of the models in wedding dresses are a good deal taller so the dresses would look much different IRL, especially on a shorter bride.

I am barely 5'3. I had to have 2 feet taken off my dress. I loved the end result.

I'm 4'11" [although I'm usually 5'0" if anyone asks Smiley winking], and I went with a narrow a-line. This is when I first bought the dress, so bear in mind it's wayyyy too big for me and hasn't been hemmed yet. But you get the idea. =)

I'm 5'4". My dress is perfect with 4" heels. I never wear heels so I'm trying to find some platform sneakers, but haven't been able to.

I'm 5'1 and felt like the fit and flare dresses were a lot more flattering. I felt stumpier in an a-line or ball gown. In these pics, I'm standing on a tall pedestal and the dress is draped over, but I ordered the "petite" length, which is 3 inches shorter than normal.

I'm not a short bride, but one think you may want to avoid is a lot of lace or detailing around the bottom of the dress. That will make hemming the dress much more expensive if it's even possible.

These are unaltered so it is too long at the bottom and the bust had to be taken in. I am 5'1".

Here's a shot of the front/back together -- not a great shot of either! But, it definitely needs a few inches taken off (I'm 5'4" and wearing about 2" heels). It's going to be interesting trying to keep the tiers on the dress even (rather than just chopping off from the bottom). I have full confidence in my seamstress though -- first fitting appt is next week!

I'm a big 5'1. I had my shoes off on the sand and my DH towered over me.
