Short brides, show me your wedding dresses

MrsM., on August 28, 2014 at 12:02 PM

Ladies, show me your wedding dresses and tell me how tall you are please. I'm a petite bride, 5'1, and realize most of the models in wedding dresses are a good deal taller so the dresses would look much different IRL, especially on a shorter bride.

I'm 5'1 (if that). I went with an a-line that didn't have a whole ton of poof or detailing. The slightly lower waist also stretched me out a bit, and I went with a smaller brooch bouquet. It's all about proportion when you're petite.

Just the back of my dress! I found the princess dresses swallowed me and loved the way this fit and felt.

    ETA: I'm 5'4" !

I'm 5'2" and since the dress has eyelash lace on the bottom, it cannot be hemmed. I ordered the petite length, and I still have to wear 4" heels to make it work =) It still needs to be altered some, so it won't ripple.

I'm "5ft 3in" (more like 5'2" haha) mine is a drop waisted a-line kind of like KaylaP's dress but without the strap and with a belt! The ballgrowns and more traditional a-lines made me feel kind of chunky

I'm 5'3" and chose an a-line. With 3" wedge heels we need to take off about an 1"

Not altered and with me standing on a box...so not very clear on the height part yet. I am only 5'2.

I'm 5'2". Here is my dress at my second fitting. The bottom was just pinned... that's why it looks all weird!

@Shoelover - I am the same height as you, and that was one of the dresses I was hoping to try on when I go dress shopping!! But the 4" heels comment you made makes me cringe, thanks for posting. Lol, I may need to edit my dress shopping plan.

@NotAllWhoWanderAreLost - I absolutely love the dress, so I would still try it on and ask your alterations lady about what she thinks your options are. You can apparently order the dress with the eyelash lace not on it (meaning your alterations lady would have to add it to the bottom), so alterations can happen...however, I knew that I wanted tall shoes anyways, so I didn't want to pay extra for that option.

I am 5'4" and I had 3 inch wedges on and we still had to hem it a little. I'm not standing on a box in this picture just have my wedges on.

I think fit and flare and mermaid styles are the most flattering for short brides. I felt like I would get lost in the other styles. I am 5'0. Here is my dress without alterations (I'm standing on a stool and in heels)
