September wedding things to know?!

Krystal, on September 13, 2016 at 6:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Is anyone planning or had a September wedding? I'm from the northeastern part of the state and getting ready to decide on our date. I am nervous about getting married September 2017 because it can be hot during the day and cool at night. We are having an outside wedding and I don't really know what to plan for. Has anyone had any experiences or advice they can share? Also I need to consider honeymoon in September which is hurricane season in the Bahamas and caribbean.. help?

My sister is also getting married next September in the very beginning of the month. We're in the northeast I'm assuming its still going to be pretty hot. She decided to go with an inside wedding because the weather can be unpredictable around this time. I'd definitely have a back up plan or tents

Yea one thing about September (I'm in Maryland) is that the weather is ultra unpredictable. We are planned for indoors because you never know if it's going to be super hot or chilly that day. Also the rain has been crazy since it's hurricane season. One thing I would suggest is maybe do a minimoon right after the wedding (somewhere stateside) then do something tropical later when it's not hurricane season.

Omg yes I live in Maryland !! That's a great point I do need to have back up plans, right now ceremony is outside and reception is under a big pole tent ! The morning is 60 degrees then can get up to 80s followed by a chilly evening ! Ughh Smiley sad pretty sure Bahamas and caribbean are to risky for a honeymoon :/

I'm getting married September 24th 2017 in NJ. Weather.com says the average temp is 74, but this year they have it at 82 so far, though it can change. I'm hoping it's cooler next year, since its usually still warm at the time my ceremony is taking place. If it turns out to be cold/rainy my venue has 2 backups: a patio and an indoor space.

We're not worried about hurricanes on our honeymoon since we're going to Canada.

I think early September is fine for an outdoor wedding but any later and I think you need to have a plan b option for inside or heaters etc. lately September has been beautiful but you never know

I live in Maryland too and I'm planning a September 2017 wedding outdoors. We are lucky that our party rental company is super flexible, and we can add sides to the tents, fans, or heaters if need be depending on the weather! The best thing you can do is be prepared for any situation.

We are getting married next September too! Also planning on an outdoor wedding, it's one of those things that I am not willing to compromise on. However, the reception will be indoors. I think as long as your venue is prepared for weather changes, you should be okay! That means tents, heaters, etc. I know for a wedding I went to this past weekend it was about 85 during the day and was in the 50s at night and the bride and groom sent out an email to the guests a few days before and reminded everyone that it will most likely be cold and everyone should plan to have sweaters/jackets. It was no problem. Your guests should know how to plan for weather!

I'm in Ohio and our wedding is at the end of September next year. The reception is in a barn on the farm I grew up on so space heaters and a fire should help everyone stay warm!!! I'm hoping it's not to cold.

I'm getting married in 5 days and it's supposed to rain. Always have a plan B in place in case that happens to you.

I am getting married in NE PA. The temps right now are showing 81 during the day and 53 at night. Our ceremony is outside and our reception is inside. ALWAYS have a plan B no matter time of year and where you live.

I also live in Maryland, so you should know how hot it has been here. It's just now getting under 90 degrees. September is a toss up, it can be hot, it can be cold. So we prepared for both types of weather. I chose October for nice Fall weather and so far they're calling for high 70s which is warmer than I first predicted.

I'm also a MD girl planning an outdoor wedding with a tent. We will have sides, etc. if it will be cooler than we anticipate and other backup plans as needed closer to the date. We checked out the weather over the last 10 years to get an idea of what our weekend averages. No rain. So naturally I am fully preparing myself for rain that day Smiley winking
