scared to commit to venue/date

Ely, on August 27, 2015 at 10:29 AM Posted in Planning 1 22

This whole time I have been on WW my date has not been set in stone. We knew we wanted to get married in October of 2016 but we had to wait to received FH's baptism certificate from Mexico to set a date with our church. In the meantime I did a lot of research to find a venue, A LOT and we found one but I'm nervous to sign a contract. I keep thinking of all the "what-if's". For a Friday from 4pm- 2am, it's $6700 for 200 guests. It includes, food (buffet), lemonade/water/iced tea, cake, servers, setup and tear down, cleaning, coordinator, uplighting, centerpieces, tables and chivari chairs with linens of our color choice, the price includes taxes (I have to ask about gratuity). The certificate is here and we are ready to set a date but I'm nervous. Am I crazy? I have posted about the actual venue before but I would love to hear some thoughts/opinions or if any one can relate to how I am feeling? *picture for reference...

Holy crap. Book it.. My cost for the venue alone is 5700 and then for catering its 16k for 150 people--and believe it or not it was the most affordable that we found in our search after looking at over a dozen places.

ETA: We only have the place reserved from 6:30-11:30PM

I think it looks beautiful! What's your concern? If you're not sure yet you can ask the venue to keep you updated with booking.

That price is amazing, I would jump on that asap. I can['t believe that is so cheap! I see it doenst include booze ,are you planning on having alcohol at the wedding? Even if you added that, the price is still really good. The venue looks really classy as well.

@Holly and @ E=mc2 I just keep thinking, what if this is good to be true? what if I find something better? less expensive?

@Kathryn Security and bartenders are also included and we bring in our own choice of alcohol...

That's an amazing price! I would jump on it. Our venue is around 10,000 for 190 people and includes food, servers, 2 bottles of wine per table, basic linens, bar service, and 10 uplights (tables, cutlery, glasses included too of course). We're paying extra for decorators to supply linens of our color choice.

In comparison I think you have a very good deal there (and I thought we were getting a great price!). I can understand feeling a bit hesitant to confirm the date. I remember we had been tentatively told FH vacation time, but it wasn't confirmed 100%. We were very nervous to pay any deposits until we knew for sure. Our venue will allow one free date change though. Maybe you should ask about that?

I'm sure the price will also go down if you end up with fewer people. Our price is very dependent on the number of guests. We budgeted for the max the venue can hold, but are hoping we come in around 140-150 or so,

The price is great, it looks like a nice venue. Are you more nervous to commit to the date or of the place?

I know when we got our save the dates, we just looked at each other and said..."Whoa, shit got real". We are getting MARRIED.

We were happy about it, but, each of those steps, like booking a venue, makes you know that you are committed and this is happening.

The fact you can bring in your own alcohol should be reason enough! That was one of my highest priorities in a venue

Hell yeah, book that! But when you do, stop looking lol.

Just our venue and rentals is about that price. So I'm super jealous!

I agree the price is amazing and it looks great! I would jump on it before someone else books your date - get it all in writing.

I freaked out alittle when i booked. just make sure you did you research, bring a list of questions. then just DO IT!!!! It worried me becuase its such a big investment of $$ and trust. But i also just knew thats where it would be. i cried when i saw the ceremony site. You will be surprised the amount of relief that comes with just knowing that you have the venue secure. and yours sounds all inclusive like mine, so thats super easy and the way we wanted to go.

VM- i was talking to somone about all inclusive vs not this Am. I cant imagine how much planning you had to do, tables, linens, catering etc. I would have a stroke trying to get everything done.

Not crazy to be nervous. For us setting the venue was one of the largest "down right" purchases we have ever made, so I definitely freaked out thinking about what if this, what if that.

that is a GREAT price for 200 guests. My recommendation would be if you love it, book it. But DO NOT look at other venues at all. That would just be a recipe for more "what ifs"

That's $33.50 per person for EVERYTHING. Book that shit, book it now. You will NOT find anything better OR cheaper.

That's a great price! I understand to a degree though. We just "booked" our venue. Meaning I have to wire transfer 30% today! The financial part is what gets me. You can always find cheaper, better etc. How much work do you want to put in? I personally did not want to correspond with multiple venues. Too stressful for me!
