Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids

Maybe it's just me but some of the women on this show annoy the heck out of me. They have too many opinions for a wedding that is NOT theirs!

Rant Over...

Yep! If any of my BMs acted like that I would kick those b!tches out.

And sometimes I feel so bad for the brides on there when they are trying on their wedding dresses and their best friends, sisters, etc just totally put them down. I watched one where the bride went back to the dressing room and was just in tears and totally unmotivated to shop anymore because of the hurtful comments her bridal party made. Some people just have no common sense.

I think a lot of it is just to get on the show... because if there was no drama, why would people watch it? My favourite line from the show (although I didn't see it on the actual show, just the commercial)

Consultant - "What would Jesus do?"

Entourage - "He'd wear the dress!"

ITA. It's so crazy. But then from the BM point of view, those dresses are usually over $200. If you're paying, put me in whatever you want, but if I'm paying, I should at least get a small say.

Combay, that is true! However, wouldnt that also constitute to poor planning on (a little) on the Bride's part? I plan to sit down with my girls and give them options and ideas of things I would like to see. I think certain brides should automatically take into account their bridesmaids financial stability.

I agree Dominique it is poor planning. I know one thing I don't want my MOH to do is get a dress that's only going to be worn once. But some of the ladies on the show (either in reality or they're acting), but they don't seem to think about everyone's financial situation. There were a group of college girls on one episode and a few of the girls made known that they wanted something that would be under $200 including the alterations. There was another episode where the bride was requiring that all the girls get the red bottom shoes. Those are freaking expensive. When I asked my cousin to stand by me, I asked her if she would be able to afford it. Part of the reason I have such a small BP is because I knew I would be listening to a lot of "I can't afford" if I selected certain people. It's good that you're talking to your BM first. These are hard times to get married.

My FH and I were watching it the other day, he said, "I hope you don't run into any issues when getting the bridesmaid dresses!" I told him I already told my bridesmaids the kind of dress everyone will be wearing, so I don't anticipate anything happening when the time comes. The show is hilarious though, I've never come across so many bridesmaids with so many opinions on what they're wearing... so over the top!

WWJD?......he would never ask me to wear that dress LOL =) It cracks me up too and I change the scenerio each time!! I am a fan of letting the girls wear what they look best in and what they are comfortable in...but then again I was FORCED to wear a hideous dress that people still talk about to this day....the wedding was like 18 years ago

I love the WWJD part as well...

In today's day and age, there are so many options when it comes to BM dresses.

Those women are crazy! To avoid any drama, I picked out about 10 dresses that I like in the same fabric/length/colour/designer (all have flowy skirts) and the girls are choosing their own.

You have to look at it from a BM's perspective too though. Some of the brides aren't exactly a walk in the park either. I see it from both, because I'm both a BM and had my time as a bride. Everyone including the bride needs to compromise if you want a decently smooth BM dress experience. Some brides refuse to let go of what they want even if it's out of their BM's budget or all of their BMs hate it. No offense, but remember that the saying whoever pays has a say applies to the bride too. It's not just about other people not having a say in your wedding if they don't pay for it. It also applies IMO to when you don't pay for something.

I told my MOH the length I wanted, a couple of color choices, and gave her $50 toward whatever she liked that met my criteria.
