Salad Plated when Guests Arrive...Where to put napkin?

In one of the stemmed glasses?

You could have napkin folded and under plate do it drapes off the table...doesn' help with menu. You could ask caterer not to plate salad but that may be a time or cost issue.

I would ask the venue not to serve the salads until after guests are seated.

Thanks everyone! What do you think about salad served family style at the table? Has anyone been to a wedding where this happened?

Family style can be weird, especially with centerpieces.

Usually, even at family style receptions, the salad is served plated. It is a bit weird for the salad to be already at the table when guests arrive-- I'd ask them to have it served after your entrance, if the timeline will allow it.
