Rubber stamp, handwriting, what are you doing?

SB, on May 9, 2018 at 10:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

I have found so many cute rubber stamps or self inking stamps on Etsy to use for return addresses, but are they worth it? Are y'all ordering a custom stamp or handwriting? There is a really cute one I want, but can't decide if I want to order it. I have a fear of smearing the ink on the envelope, but I am also left handed so my whole life seems to be one big smear anyways! Also if you do get one, are you doing self-inking or stamp pad? Which one is easier?

We had ours printed on each envelope. It eliminated so much time for us, since they were all set to be mailed out.

I love my selfinking stamp from personalization mall. It saves time when sending invites because you will actually be stamping 2x per invite (RSVP envelope and main envelope). I will also use it for thank you notes for wedding and shower. So it's getting lots of use.

I ordered a custom stamp off of Esty of my first name and FH's first name. It was $8 and I already had an ink pad at home. FH is in the military so I didn't want one with our address on it since we'll be moving around. If it's a cheap stamp I would say buy it!

I have a self inking stamp which I LOVE.
I would never handwrite all my return addresses— what a hand cramp! If I didn’t get the stamp, I would’ve just got sticker return address labels, but the stamp feels fancier.

I got a cute stamp off Etsy it doesn't smear and works great. I got to prior to STD's so I could use it on everything I also only did our first names not last so we can use it after we are married (for like Christmas Cards I'll probably never actually send and thank you's)

Thank you for the ideas everyone! My biggest fear was getting one and having it smear everywhere. Also, I didn't really want it to be our first names, I just wanted his last name on it. Is that in good taste although we aren't married yet? I believe it is. Everyone already knows us and addresses mail to us by his last name anyways.

I had the return address printed on the back when I ordered the invites from minted.

I had mine pre-printed on the back of the envelope. The printer also pre-printed our address on the front of he RSVP envelopes. Big time saver and it was included in the price. I designed my own invites/RSVPS/STDS and had them printed by Costco.

I ordered a personalized stamp (self inking) off Etsy for $30 and I wasn't a huge fan, it was so impossible to get it right or get all the wording on the envelope. We ended up not using it (this was for our graduation announcements). So for our wedding invites I'm ordering a stamp pad one and hoping that does a better job. I'd just stamp them and let them dry overnight to ensure no smearing maybe?

We had our return address pre-printed on the envelopes and then hand-calligraphied the guest adtessses. It made life so much easier to have the return address printed.

I ordered a self-inking stamp from Etsy thinking that we'd use it for the invitations, but wound up having the addresses printed on the back of the envelopes. It doesn't have our last names, and I plan to continue to use it for cards and things like that in the future. And, for our thank-you cards. This is the style:

I bought a self inking stamp from Etsy Smiley smile haven't used it yet but will for STDs.

Thought it would be more consistent and less "wet" than an ink pad. I also feel that I'm heavy handed so I wouldn't want to have big globs of ink all over my envelopes lol

Legit bought the same exact one lol I liked it because it worked for while we still had different last names, and will also work when we have the same last name.

I ordered my invites and RSVPs from Vistaprint. I had the return addresses printed on the envelopes, including the address on the RSVP envelope. I had them in FH's name only since they were sent to his address.

We also bought a self-inking stamp. I thought about having ours pre-printed on minted, but it's more expensive than just getting the stamp. I would definitely not address them all by hand unless you're having less than 20 invitations. We ordered 155 STDs and I think my hand would fall off if I had to write our address that many times. Definitely worth the $20 bucks I spent and the stamp is something you can keep and hopefully get more use out of than just invites. You can also use them for thank you cards, as well as anything you have to mail in the future that may not be wedding related.

I ordered return labels from Vistaprint and I love them! I made an envelope seal that matches. If you’re interested in going that way, they have 50% off site wide today!

Oh that's funny that you got the same one. I remember it was pretty reasonable too.

I found that I have to practice a few times before it works consistently, but overall it works really well.
