rk Bridal

Sully, on May 16, 2018 at 4:43 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 5

Hi all! Has anyone gone to RK Bridal in the city recently? Any tips on how to tackle a walk-in store? I'm nervous there will be a really long wait even if I go early since I have to go on a Saturday. Would love to hear anyone's experiences at RK Bridal and any tips on the best time to go on a Saturday!

TIA!

Hi Sully! Have you read through their recent reviews on WeddingWire? That's where I'd start my research!

Reviews for RK Bridal on WeddingWire

It does say (in bright red) on their website that you need to arrive before noon on Saturdays and Sundays in order to try on dresses, so I would get there as early as possible! I'd also try to keep your shopping entourage as small as you can (1-2 people) and be prepared to give a consultant as much info as possible about dress styles and designers you like so you can be speedy and get the most out of your time there!

Thanks! I did read the reviews but no one really seemed to discuss wait time on a Saturday which I was curious about. I was planning to go around 10, but I am wondering if I should go earlier. I don't want to wait around just to be able to be seen.

I have! Do NOT go on a weekend , your best bet is to go on a weekday and EARLY ... there most expensive dress is $5,000 , they only allow you to try on 5 dresses , or they will tell you that you only have a hour to try on dresses which I think is bullshit ... they also pressure you in a way to pick a dress and they hate when you say that you “love” a dress but don’t say yes to it .. and they will push whatever accessories on you as well. I like it but don’t LOVE it , they don’t give you enough time , I went and only was able to try on 4 dresses in my hour because the consultant had to keep going back to the dresses to get something I liked , I’ve been there 3 times and have yet to say yes to a dress , I plan on going this Thursday or Friday I believe. Hope this helps!

Oh no! Sorry you had that experience. I hope you have better luck when you go back! I actually ended up going last Saturday and had a decent experience. We were trying to get there at 9 am to sign up for a slot for 9:30 am, but of course we got there late and it was already 9:45 am. But I dropped my mom and sister in law off to put my name down while I parked. They originally told them the wait was an hour and 20 mins so I decided to take my time and to see if I could find street parking instead of going to a garage right away. But before I even parked they had called my name! I ended up parking at a garage a few blocks away and by the time I got to the store they had skipped me twice! I was actually shocked since they said there was such a long wait. I also didn't have to wait much longer when I finally arrived. I only tried on 6 dresses and picked one, but I was down to the 5th and 6th choice and they let me try both on several times. I ended up going with the 5th and I never felt rushed. The consultant actually didn't want me to try on the dress I ended up buying because it was above my budget and she was trying to be mindful of what I wanted to spend. Another lady that worked in the store brought over the dress because she thought it would look good on me based on what I said I liked and didn't like about another dress and since there was a trunk show happening that dress was 10% off. Even though I ended up spending more than I planned I was happy overall with my experience there. I was a little nervous at first with my consultant because she didn't seem friendly, but then she warmed up after I started trying on dresses.

It sucks that you guys had bad experiences. I read Yelp reviews and saw that Cheryl was a favso when I went I asked for her and she was a Godsend. I tried on alottt of dresses maybe 8 my first time. First time she had me try on dresses I thought worked for me, went back a second time and tried on her choices. Third time I brought my mom so she can see my final four picks and still ended up at the last min trying on a fav of Cheryl that she thought embodied what I was looking for and that was “the one”. All in all I tell everyone to go to RK Bridal but to deal with Cheryl. She is so energetic and makes the experience so much fun. I would also say go with one or two people, I went with my MOH first time, alone the second time and with my mom the third time. And Cheryl took tons of oics and videos for me, beyond amazing experience. I even wanted to invite her to my wedding.

Hope other brides enjoy dress shopping like I did. I was am so not the typical bride and Cheryl saw that and made me feel special.
