Retake photos of Bride/Groom after the day

ben4514, on April 7, 2014 at 10:24 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

We got married on Saturday and it was beautiful. My only regret is that it had rained all week and I couldn't walk on the golf green (even in flats) without sinking and it was super windy, so we got no outdoor photos. I don't mind as much for the wedding party/family but I really wanted some photos of my husband and I near their beautiful lake/farmhouse. We loved our photographer so I am considering putting on the dress and tux again and doing about an hour of photos at our wedding location. It would just be the two of us so no PPD.

Has anyone else done this or is this considered tacky?

I don't know squat about etiquette, but I think that's a great idea! You can take pictures any way or time you want. And I wouldn't have thought of that....its a great solution to less than perfect weather messing up your pictures

I know a couple that had is rain like crazy on their wedding day so no outdoor pictures of them either. They got the dress/suit cleaned and booked the photographer for the week after they got back from the honeymoon and got some AMAZING photos. It's not tacky at all Smiley smile

DO IT! Get what you want Brianna...it'll only be tacky if you kick yourself for missing the opportunity to have a private wedding photo shoot with your hubby...

I've heard of this happening before-- not a big deal at all. Usually its because the wedding photographer sucked/messed up somehow, or its done as an anniversary shoot, but whatever the reason, I don't think is tacky.

I don't think it's tacky. I think you should totally do it. I think it will be nice and you will have a little time to get the shots that you want to Smiley smile

Go for it! I'm thinking about it as well. We just ran out of sunlight and didn't get many shots.

I think it's a great idea - my FH and I are having my MOH (who does photography professionally) do a Rock the Dress shoot the day after our wedding.

I think if you want the pictures then you need to get the pictures. It's not worth living with the nagging feeling forever if you dont have them

Do it or you will regret it. Plus no one will even know lol. Then be sure to show us when you get the pictures back!

As a photographer, I always tell my brides that if something isn't working out day of, and is feasible, we will get together another day.

You should absolutely do it Smiley smile I'm sure you won't regret it!

You have every right in the world to put the wedding gown and tux back on and have your photographer shoot the images you were hoping to get on your wedding day. It's no different than scheduling a photographer for any kind of private shoot. This doesn't even come close to a redo of your wedding -- nothing tacky at all. Hope the photos are beautiful.

I don't think it would be tacky at all. Better to do it than regret not doing it!

I honestly never thought of doing this until i booked my photographer and she said she always includes this free of charge in her wedding packages. She said the day of the wedding you are pressed for time and don't want to do anything too risky of getting the dress dirty, etc. So we are going to be doing this sometime after we come back from the honeymoon most likely

Rock the Dress/Trash the Dress, it's the same concept. Photoshoot after the wedding where you don't have scheduling constraints from the wedding day and it's not as important that you and your dress stay spotless for the rest of your reception.

Basically it's a chance to let loose and be fun and have great pictures taken in your wedding attire.
