Replica dress from Amazon? Let me see yours!

I am considering buying a replica Mori Lee dress on Amazon, because I can't justify spending $1500+ on a dress I will wear only once. I am considering buying a replica Mori Lee dress on Amazon, because I can't justify spending $1500+ on a dress I will wear only once. The Amazon dress has a few 5 star reviews on the exact dress I'm wanting, pictures included, and they look pretty good to me. The seller has great reviews overall on almost all of their other dresses too, but I am still worried. Have any of you bought a replica dress on Amazon? Who was the seller? If you have pictures, please post them (extra points for posting a pic of the original designer dress also for comparison).

This is the dress I'm wanting replicated!

@lauren - Everything here has been constructive and helpful. Just because it wasn't what you wanted to hear doesn't make it not so.

I didn't realize that giving advice was grandstanding. We're giving you actual advice on why this is a bad idea; which you're obviously choosing to ignore because it's not the advice you want. You're looking for validation of doing something shitty and which could (and probably will) backfire on you. Sorry but we're not going to give you any validation on this.

    How can I kill Grandma?

    That's not a great idea.

I didn't ask if it was a good idea; I wanted to know how to do it.

I used dressilyme. I had no illusions that it would look exactly like the picture but it had enough of the feel I was going for. Plus, it was custom to my size so I didn't pay for alterations at all. I also could not justify paying a lot for a dress. $200. That was it. I did have a pre-owned allure dress as backup though that I wore for an overseas celebration. I just wanted something different for the states and didn't have time to deal with alterations.

Have you considered purchasing the original and then selling it after the wedding? The price you make back might help bring the dress into a reasonable price range. Let's say you pay 1400, you could sell it for 700 even afterwards. Another thing, don't know where you live but, some states don't charge tax on wedding dresses as they are considered clothing. My mom and bridal party live in NJ so going there where I didn't have to pay tax was a great idea and more convenient for my Momma and peeps. Smiley winking

Forgot to add: got a lace, long sleeved Mori Lee for about 1100.00 brand new. Did you check multiple shops?

Don't know if I would get it off Amazon..... but it is your dress, your decision.

I bought a dress pre owned in pristine condition that I would not have been able to justify new. I love it. I would suggest seeing if you can find a preowned one first and if you can't, be super careful when ordering on Amazon.

You can take or leave people's advice, but you can't tell people what they can and cannot post on a thread.

So basically what I got from this is you want to buy a dress that is a cheaper (but supposedly identical) copy of one that you can't afford, and when people have you valid reasons (including facts!) Why that is a bad idea you got upset.

Ordering a knockoff is really risky (I won't even get into why morally) in general but with only 6 months until your wedding? Good luck with that.

This is the question you asked " Have any of you bought a replica dress on Amazon? "

It is the one many of us answered by saying No, and clarifying why it is an ethical issue.

I would never be okay with stealing a design from someone. Have you tried to find it used? Otherwise you need to find something you can afford

Look for a used one. That's the best option

I would never buy a replica dress...

Its stealing a design which I have a really big problem with. Also, customer service was a huge deal to me when I was buying my dress. I didn't just want the people to be nice to me, I wanted to make sure that if there were problems with the dress that they would give enough of a shit to help me. It also ensured the quality of the dress.

One of my friends got her wedding dress online from a site in China for 100$ and she loved it, it was a ballgown style dress and fit her perfectly

My other friend tried about 4 dresses from Chinese websites, the final one which she finally went with she got altered slightly but it looked off. Too long (she was holding it when she walked down the aisle) and the lace looked weird it was different on each arm and on her chest the sewn in cups were weird and looked like diff shapes.

    So up to you!

I've heard nothing but nightmares from anyone who's used replica sites. If you consider the cost of material, a $200 dress will look like a $200 dress. Plus, don't you want the Bridal experience? You only (should) get this once in your life! Go to the salons and enjoy all the different dresses!

I found an amazing ball gown on clearance for $250 that I'm using as a reception dress. I found my ceremony dress at a sample sale for about $700. You can have the best of both worlds without having to sacrifice quality in your dress.

If you are looking to buy a dress online, I'd recommend Lace Marry on Etsy. My dress did take about 2 months to make, but it is exactly what I was expecting and I only paid $350. She asked for custom measurements, so I didn't even need to make any adjustments!

Here's her Etsy page if you're interested Smiley smile
