Rehearsal Dinner - What are you doing?

Danielle, on April 8, 2019 at 2:52 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 187

What are you planning for your rehearsal dinner? Will you be going all out and having a formal sit down dinner? Or are you keeping it casual with an at home BBQ? Was your decision budget based?

For our rehearsal dinner, we will be having a real casual shrimp boil and providing beer. It will be at our venue (a barn), since we have it for the entire weekend. Our rehearsal dinner isn't so much budget based, as it is personality based. My FH and I aren't really into the formal sit down dinners, and this fits our style a lot more. Bonus: shrimp boils are EASY and affordable Smiley smile

I think we will have it catered a d at someone's house. Too expensive for us to do a sit down meal

Thankfully our rehearsal dinner is the one thing that FH's parents are paying for. We will be doing it at a restaurant near the venue. It is also going to be only the bridal party and their significant others.

We had our RD at a restaurant near our venue. We had a DW, so everyone was invited. Out of the 80 people who attended the wedding, 50 came to the RD.

It was passed hors d'oeuvres and then a buffet meal. We served beer and wine. We rented out the whole restaurant. It was super nice, but def not as fancy as the wedding.

We're having a sit down dinner at an Italian restaurant. My Mother offered to pay, thanks Mom!

It's right across the street from the hotel everyone will be staying at, so for us it was location based lol. We also like the restaurant a lot and it's good one for big groups, we get a private room. Smiley laugh

Ours is at a Mexican restaurant right across from our blocked hotel. It's a sit down plated meal, but guests will pick off a pre-set menu when they get there. We would have done it at home but we live 1+ hour from the venue. My FFIL is paying for it. We are serving 70 people food & drinks for under $3,000 (that was the budget).

At this point (ya know, like 40 days out).. my FMIL doesn't have any idea. She wants to pay/plan/etc for the rehearsal, which is fine, but ugh. She doesn't do computers/internet so it's a pain. Most places won't reserve an area for 30 people on a Friday night unless they have a party room..which, there's not many around here. No one has a house really big enough for it or convenient location.. so ugh, looks like I get to plan that too 'cause she just doesn't know where to start.

I love the idea of shrimp boil- sounds delicious. My rehearsal dinner will also be more on the casual side. I’m thinking a local bbq restaurant near the venue.

FILs are in charge of our rehearsal dinner (since it's all their family and none of my family, except my parents). They're hosting it at their Airbnb, about 40 people are invited, and they've hired caterers for the event.

I stole this idea from someone else on WW but we are having Moes cater and eating at the venue. We will have margaritas and beers too. I'm with you. Not really into a big fancy dinner when we have so much going on the next day. Also I just want to dress comfortably lol

I found this really great woodfire pizza place that has a private room and a bar so we will be doing it there, It was the most affordable option that I found.

Haven't 100% planned this yet but I am planning on a BBQ at my home or my BIL home. Nothing to do with budget like you... we just prefer casual and we love to play cornhole lol

We rented part of the clubhouse at our country club and are having a plated meal and open bar for about 20-25 guests. We looked at some local restaurants but our club actually ended up being cheaper than a private room at a restaurant on a Fri night. FH and I are paying and I had a general budget of $1000-$1500. We will be in that range.

That sounds nice. I personally like a more low key rehearsal dinner.

That's awesome. I've been wondering if FH's parents plan to help with ours, but I'm not about to ask and they haven't said anything...so for now, I'm just planning it as we are paying.

That sounds really nice. I'm sure it was perfect for a DW.
