I really don't like the toast part of receptions. Never have and probably never will. I don't want to do it and said as much to my FH but he wants to do it. His best man can be a bit much and I honestly don't want to deal with him making a fool of himself in front of 250-300 guests. So i guess we shall see.

Ditching completely. I don’t like speeches and I would get nervous if someone asked me to do a speech so I won’t ask others lol

Definitely doing this! I'm excited to see what everyone is going to say! My fiance's best man has known my fiance for 15+ years, and I've been best friend with the best man for probably 10 years ( we met in college and he introduced my fiance and I), so I know he's gonna have some fun stories!

We will have the toasts but it will be my best friend and his younger brother so I think it will be fine. I'm sure my dad will say a few things and pray at the beginning so it shouldn't be too long!

It isn't necessary for us to do toasts but if we have a few friends who have meaningful things to say we wouldn't stop them.

I think we'll keep the toasts, but have them short and sweet.

I couldn't believe it, but NO ONE TOASTED AT OUR WEDDING. (Like what.) I could have sworn people would have something to say, but that's a nope. Kind of sad about this one, wanted someone to say something, but oh well. Lol

We did do reception speeches, the best man and maid of honor gave speeches. His was long, awkward, and he rambled for what felt like forever... it was terrible! but hers was so beautiful, funny, light-hearted and so personal, it was perfect! I love the idea of reception speeches and I think they're so special, so keep them.

So reception toasts is a thing I first saw in movies. They were not a thing at the weddings I went to growing up. However, A Knight’s Tale has always been a favorite movie of mine and was one of the early things my FH & I bonded over. He proposed to me dressed as a knight. So anyway, I may have put a bug in my MOH’s ear about her giving a “Chaucer-esque” speech. I can perfectly picture her saying “Good people, I missed my introduction...”

We are going to have a dinner but not a big reception so, if anyone wants to make a toast I am okay with it. We just wont be opening the floor for them.

Skipping them. I've only attended one wedding that had toasts, the rest didn't and they don't really seem that important.

Ditching. It's far too formal for us.

Refuse to have any toasts/speeches. They are uncomfortable for everyone.
