RECEPTION ATTIRE..KEEP WEDDING DRESS OR CHANGE OUTFIT?

Brittany, on February 16, 2015 at 2:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 60

I have been to weddings where the bride did not change outfits for the reception and I have also been to others where the bride changes into a really nice gown. What is your opinion?

I'm changing. However, I don't knock anyone who chooses not to.

I love my dress and I'm sure there's others that I'll love just as much, but I'm not willing to give up any more time away from my family, friends, and husband to go make a dress change.

I've been debating this for a while being that I paid $8,500 for my dress and I think it's just stupid to take it off after like the first dance being that it cost that much. That being said I am going to bustle that baby up and get my money's worth all night long! My FH can take it off for me :-)

Im going today to see if I can find a reception dress. I have a very big and heavy tulle and lace ballgown and can't see myself "getting down" in that thing when party time comes!

Ive seen it done both ways.

I love my wedding dress and staying in it all night...I hate going to a wedding and seeing the bride in a beautiful dress during the ceremony and then get to the reception and see that she's changed into a trashy short number with feathers (or sequins or something). The reception dresses never hold a candle to the wedding dress, so I always think "why bother?"

Yes, I was leaning towards keeping my wedding dress on for the whole night. It's not as heavy, plus it's really pretty and I feel I can dance in it. As mentioned above, I don't want to pay that much money and also have more time taken away. All this is really good feedback Smiley smile

Im getting another full length gown but it will be a lighter weight fit and flare. When you said trashy feather dress I totally just pictured that girl on Say yes to the dress who had the short dress WITH the open corset thing where you can see your stomach. Oh God that thing was hideous.

I plan on wearing mine for the entire reception! BUT, we'll be going out after the reception and hitting up bars and such so I think a change to something short and flirty may be necessary. I don't wanna mess up my prettiful dress bar hopping :-/

I'm wearing mine all night! It's very lightweight and tea length so I won't be uncomfortable. I don't really get the dress change to be honest.

I am leaning towards changing dresses. I already purchased my ceremony dress, its a drop waist beaded ballgown that can be bustled and workable. But I had a convo w/ a 2014 bride at a superbowl party and she was saying how hot and sweat she was in her dress she didn't enjoy herself. She said she regrets not having a 2nd dress. Her words (from what I remember): "I know a lot ppl say they spend too much on the dress to change, but you spend even more on the reception and thats a waste if you can't enjoy it."I feel EXACTLY where shes coming from I tend to sweat so I will likely have a second dress, I've given myself a >$300 budget for it and if nothing else its a back-up (I am not worried either way). Lastly my dress is drop waist and fitted at the top (mid butt up) surprisingly mermaid style wasn't as flattering as I thought so I still would like a sexier dress (maybe something long lose and flowy with a split) for pictures during the reception

I'm not changing. honestly, i've never really understood the whole changing thing unless you're a total fashionista chick or unless your bridal gown is a helluva of a ball gown or something. lol. idk. not anything against those that do, i just never really got it.

i'm paying enough for my dress i'm gonna get the most out of wearing it for a few hours. haha.

I'm wearing mine all night, and can't imagine going through the day wearing anything else.

I'm going to look for a second dress but its not for sure if it will happen. I absolutely LOVE my dress but its heavy and my summers are really hot. If I can't find something I like then Oh well, if I do, sweet!

I plan to wear mine all night because of the reasons above. Plus I'm super picky with EVERYTHING I wear so I think it would be a hell of a process to find TWO dresses I love lol

@Christine- I was actually in New Orleans a while back and saw a bride in her dress walking around the French quarter and getting beignets! I was like OMG I could NEVER!

There is no way i'm taking that dress off...i want to stay in my wedding dress as long as possible. I didn't spend that much time and effort on the "perfect dress" only to wear it for an hour.

I'm having a "traditional Chinese" wedding so I will be wearing a red gown change into the white wedding gown, and then switching into a evening gown.
